CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE 2014: GIFTS FOR HER

This is the second gift guide in my Christmas Gift Guide series. Here i'm talking about gifts for her... these are gifts you could buy for your mom, nan and friends. I will be doing another blog post which will be for a younger age range, i've split gifts for her into a mom/ nan age range and younger sister/ friends age group but they could all be great for all age ranges.

I'm loving some of the Christmas gifts that are out right now, the Liz Earle Star Beauty Treat is such a great idea, it's like a bauble but shaped like a star and inside you get a nail colour or a lipstick, I got this natural pink colour which would be perfect for all ages, and theres a few different colours to choose from, it's only £7.50* so would be great for anyone a secret santa, teacher or family.

One of my favourite brands, Rituals sent over this gorgeous Touch of Light Body Cream* and Diwali Delight shower gel*, I love Rituals and think you get such great quality with their products. I think these would make a great gift for your nan or mom if she likes her baths and showers. Give her a luxurious gift this year.

This Burts Bee's Honey Pot* is one of my favourite gift ideas this year, it's such a cute gift to give someone. I think again it's perfect for everyone! Inside is two lip balms and a hand Salve. It comes in this gorgeous glass honey jar which you could use as a tealight holder or store your make up brushes in. It retails at RRP £7.99 so again is really affordable!

Another favourite brand of mine is Clarins, i've included a couple of their lip products, the natural lip protector * is such a gorgeous product, Clarins are well known and would make a great gift for everyone. This lip product has amazing reviews and has won awards! It's not sticky, inside there's Shea Butter and mango to repair and soften, making it perfect for all ages.

My mom wears alot of Jewellery, so this Bangle from Tales from the Earth* is perfect. It's Rhodium plated and has abit of weight to it, I would check the dimensions of the person your buying it for as I doubt it would actually fit on my moms wrist. They sell a few bangles and they have different inscriptions inside making them perfect for so many different people. This one reads an ocean of love which would be perfect for your mom or for a loved one. The retail at £45 which I think is resonable for the quality.

Everyone loves The Body Shop, i've included this body butter because my mom is a huge fan of Body Butters, and i'm always seeing people rave about The Body Shops body butters. This is from the latest Christmas collection Glazed Apple * The Collection includes other products like a Glazed Apple Soap Bar, lip balm, bath sprinkles and more. The body shop is really afforable and a brand everyone knows and loves. They always have gorgeous Christmas Gifts and loads of offers.

Perfume, I always buy my mom perfume! It's what she normally asks for. We all wear perfume, I wear it every single day, I have bottles and bottles of the stuff but it will be used. I've been sent this bottle of Ghost to feature, I've actually never smelled Ghost before. This is Deep Night* and it smells so good, It's a warm scent, very floral. Its a feminine but sexy smell. I love it and I know my mom will. Ghost again is a very well know scent so this would make a perfect gift for anyone.

*Items in this post have been sent to me as PR Samples, Read my full disclosure here.

REVIEW : MUA PRO-BRO KIT

MUA PRO BROW KIT - £3.50

I've used a few different brow kits before, i've used the Sleek one and the Gosh one and was a fan of both. I find the wax always runs out too quickly so I don't want to spend loads of money when I buy brow kits because once the wax is gone I end up replacing it. The Mua one was always sold out so thats why I spent the extra money and bought the Sleek one.

It comes with a little brush, some cute little tweezers, a wax and 3 shades of powder. There's a mirror on the compact which is very handy and its rather big.

I started by using the dark shade but now im using a mixture of the dark and medium shade for my brows. The colours are not very pigmented but I didn't really expect the best formula for the price. I apply the wax using the little brush thats included and then use my ecoTOOLS brow brush to apply the powder over the top. I'm impressed with the quality for the money as I think it's very similar to the quality of the Gosh kit and Sleek kit and they were both over double the price of the Mua kit.

For £3.50 I will repurchase this again, hopefully I am able to get it as I've noticed superdrug is lacking in stock again.

Have you tried this Brow Kit or is there a kit you would recommend?

REVIEW : Maybelline Baby Lips

Cherry me // Intense care // Mint Fresh // Hydrate - £2.99 from Boots

I had to jump on the Baby lips bandwagon. I had intended to stay well well away but then I spotted them in boots and daniel offered to buy me some so I got all the ones they had. I still want the other two and may have to get them online.

First of all if your store doesn't appear to stock the Baby lips then ask someone. Maybelline don't have any official shelving or fixtures for the babylips so some stores are keeping them locked in drawers, my store had them hanging from those plastic things around the maybelline section and i've seen stores having them on random tables. This is the same situation in boots and superdrug.

Cherry me is a tinted balm and i'm sure a couple of the others are but out of the ones I bought Cherry me is the only one. It's not over-powering cherry which is good because i'm not massive fan of cherry. It's super subtle and so moisturising which is lovely.

Hydrate and intense care are pretty similar but are both equally nice and Mint fresh is similar but with a minty smell.

The baby lips are a blogger hype but worth it for £2.99 these are amazing little balms to pop in your bag for that added moisture. I love getting these out because they look amazing and so cool. I've had many people ask what they are and when they can buy them. For £2.99 get some now before they disappear!

REVIEW: Loreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 micellar water

Loreal Paris Micellar Water - £4.99 Superdrug

I picked up the Loreal Micellar water because it was on offer at Superdrug for £2.50. It's currently on 2 bottles for £5 at tesco which is an equally good offer.

I haven't tried Bioderma so I can't compare but I must say I really enjoy using this micellar water.
Its a 200ml bottle for £5 whereas Bioderma is 250ml for £9.99

This is a really nice gentle micellar water that doesn't irritate my eyes or skin and removes all my make up including stubborn mascara's !!

Its a 3 in 1 micellar water so it removes make up, unclogs pores and removes impurities and tones leaving skin feeling soft.

It's really sensitive so can be used on eyes, lips and face.

I would really love Loreal to make bigger bottles of this product as I do feel like I use quite a bit of product and therefore it would be cost effective to sell bigger bottles.

I like to use this to remove my make up before I do a deeper cleanse or in the morning before I apply my make up as a toner.

Have you used any of the new Loreal range? I like the look of the new face oil !

B. Pure Micellar Water from Superdrug

B.Pure Micellar Water £3.99 (introductory price) - Superdrug

I picked this up last weekend when I was buying a few bits and pieces in superdrug, the lady at the till told me it was on offer and so I picked it up and just chucked it in the basket without really knowing what it was. If your not aware B. is superdrugs new own brand of make up and skin care and it's only arrived in stores this january! I had a look at the make up but nothing really caught my eye. This Micellar water is supposed to be very similar to Bioderma. I haven't used Bioderma personally but I have read a few reviews on this product since buying it that say it feels the same. I never jumped on the Bioderma bandwagon just because I thought it was quite expensive but i've heard its coming to the UK so hopefully I will be able to pick it up without much expense.

I really like this product, its light and easily removes make up and impurities. I have found that i'm using loads and loads of cotton wool pads.
This product states to :

Cleanse - removes impurities and make up and its gentle enough for the eyes, I agree with all of this. Its a gentle product and hasn't hurt my eyes like previous eye make up remover products have.

Tone- Restores PH balance whilst keeping skin subtle. I think this is a nice toner and leaves skin soft.

Refreshes- with cucumber juice extract. I agree its refreshing and doesn't have any nasty or chemical smells.

This product is also Cruetly Free again animal testing which is great !

For £3.99 I was glad I picked it up and I really want to try out some other Micellar water from other brands now.

MUA Undress Me Too Palette

MUA Undress Me Too Palette £4 from Superdrug

Here's another product that everyone and their aunt has heard about! I saw it in superdrug the other day and had to pick it up and I'm so glad I did!

I'm not really one for palettes. I don't really wear much eye shadow! I have an Urban Decay palette that I got before christmas and feel obliged to use it because it was a lot of money to just sit un-used, however this palette was £4 so I told myself if I don't like it well oh well it was £4!

This palette has been compared to The Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and its because the shades are so similar - nearly the same! I was reading a blog post the other day and the similarities are crazy! Obviously the Urban Decay palette is alot more pigmented and the quality is alot better than this MUA palette but for £4! Its great! It has a lovely range of 12 shades of soft neutrals, cool greys and stunning gold metallic's!

When I do wear eye makeup I normally go for blacks and whites and creates a smokey eye effect so I think this is another reason why I like this palette because as well as the browns there is about 3 creams and a grey and black so you can do your smokey eye but also create some more natural looks.

I love this! love love love it !
I don't care to much about the pigmentation and quality because I'm not a make up artist and I wear eye-shadow occasionally so why would I spend £38 on the Naked Palette. I've been experimenting with eye-shadow primer and this palette and it does give some fab effects and makes the pigmentation better so I would recommend picking up an eye-shadow primer too. I'm using the Urban Decay one that I got with an old palette but i've tried e.l.f ones before that were amazing for the money.
I love this for £4 and I can't believe this is my first MUA palette but I will be visiting superdrug soon to pick up the older palettes.

REVIEW; Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer

RRP: £3.99

Following on from last nights #bbloggers chat on twitter I think this is a great drug store buy! My all time favourite skin care product would be Estee Lauder Skin Illuminator but we all know the heafty price tag of that and I just can't spend that about of money. This is a product I haven't really heard much about! I've seen the new nivea advert which mensions this but in the blog world I haven't heard much.

First of all its the usual Nivea style packaging, it comes in a cardboard box and is this shape container. It's glass which is rather nice but abit heavy if you were carrying it around. The actual product is very soft and velvety. It's white/translucent. You literally use the smallest amount because a little goes such a long long way! The thing I love most about this is because it's by Nivea it's actually like a moisturiser and a primer in one product! It's so hydrating and moistures the skin locking that in and then primes the skin ready for you to apply your make up. I could see a difference in using this. I used my Lush toner water and then applied this, I waited for this to dry into the skin before applying my foundation- I then had a 5 hour shift at work (I work at pizza hut, it was a friday night! I get very hot running about waiting tables ) and my make up looked as perfect as when I applied it when I got home. I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and its such a nice product. You use such a little amount that it doesn't even look like i've used any.

Also for £3.99 you really cannot fault it !

As I said I haven't really read many reviews on this or bloggers rave on about it so let me know what you think ?

Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick for Rimmel

Kate Moss lipsticks RRP: £5.49
shades 110 and 113

I already own the other kate moss lipsticks but was really really excited to try these matte finish ones! I love nude shades so had to get 113 which is the nude one, its so nice- its has orangey tones but its really nice and they have loads of moisture so your lips don't go dry! one thing I will say is that you have to put a few layers of the nude shade on to cover the lips.

110 is a red shade, its quite pinky which is nice - I am a fan of red lipsticks but I have a really red/pink face and I think red lipstick makes me look red but I still wanted to try out 110. It's a really nice colour and I think red lipstick is in again this autumn, it looks really nice against PU leather which is really in this autumn and just adds to that rock-chic look!

These retail at £5.49 which isn't very expensive they are usually on the 3 for 2 offers at boots and superdrug!  I would really reccomend matte lipsticks I think they look so nice - they are more subtle compared to shiny lipsticks

The Essentials

Batiste dry shampoo// Wella Silvikrin// Nair Brazillian Spa Clay Collection*// Nivea Express Hydration//Arm and Hammer Enamel Care*// Femfresh soothing wash*// Vaseline cocoa radiant// Femfresh wipes*// Lush ultrabland// skin therapy wipes// The Body Shop foaming facial wash// Balance me wonder eye cream// Balance me face moisturiser// Nivea hand lotion//

I've decided to put together this post of essentials! I do use alot of products and I love trying out new ones! This is a post of products i've tried and  some that I use religiously! Its also some products that I really want to review or mention but I don't really want to do a full post about one product so this way i'm posting about loads of really good products but getting all the important information out.

Dry shampoo! - I LOVE THE STUFF! I've tried the new timotei one and its nothing compared to batiste. Blush is my favourite and I use the original one if superdrug don't have it! (btw its like always on offer in superdrug so check there if you wanna buy it ) I have blonde hair so the way it makes your hair abit white doesn't affect me but they do other ones for different hair colours and it brushes out ! I love how you can get away with washing your hair and how it just freshens your hair up. dry shampoo is a must have!

Hairspray - I don't use alot of hairspray but when I do its Wella Silvikrin in firm hold or ultra hold! It doesn't have a nasty hairspray smell and it holds your hair up; does what it says on the tin ;)

Hair Removal- The Nair products are all new to me, I wanted to review the wax strips and was really excited to try them but then i wimped out and decided to try the shower power foam instead! It smells like most Nair products and is like a cream. You apply a thick layer before you shower and wait a couple of minutes then you go in the shower but try and not get wet and then use the spatula to remove the cream - removing the hair. Its really good and leaves your legs smooth and soft. I'm yet to try the wax strips.

Femfresh range- I won't go into much detail about this range but I will say that I defiantly recommend it.

Moisturisers- I love cocoa butter but I find palmers abit expensive and the smell is very powerful whereas this vaseline cocoa butter has a lovely smell and it moistures the skin- I got this on offer in superdrug for just under £2 which is like half the price of the palmers one.
The Nivea express hydration range is really good, it defiantly does the job when it come to hydrating the skin- I have very dry skin and this is perfect and it absorbs quickly.
I love hand creams and this is my favourite one! - when I take my nail varnish off I like to use this on my hands and nails- you only need to use a tiny pea size amount.

Face- The balance me range is really nice! I love these small sample size creams to keep in my make up bag for when I stop at dans. The eye cream is really nice- I'm not normally a fan of eye cream but I do love this! I also use lush Ultrabland on my face its a cleanser which is great for sensitive skin and also to remove make up because it contains beeswax. Also people with problem skin should use this on its own to bring the skin back to normal balance. I love foaming facial wash so when I finished my No 7 one I tried this body shop one and its really nice - it smells nice and isn't harsh on the skin at all!

I've been trying loads of new teeth products- I've been researching getting my teeth whitened but apparently it can cause alot of damage to your enamel so I've been using stain removal toothpaste and I'm gonna start using Arm & Hammer Enamel Care Sensitive toothpaste that restores surface enamel, It contains baking soda that is supposed to whiten your teeth more gently, its also for sensitive teeth.

my superdrug haul!

trio eyeshadow swatches; smokescreen

(look's stay-put translucent powder, batiste;s dry shampoo- proud and true brit; mua's trio eyeshadow. mua nailpolish  shade 15 and shade 4;   mua  shade 2 pearl eyeshadow. barry M intense black eyeliner pen; garnier deep clean wash.)
heres a little look at a few bits and bobs i picked up in superdrug today; i've seeen alot of blogs comment on the mua range and for £1 you cant moan at the quality- from swatching and having a little play i must say i am impressed with the quality for the money.  the trio of eyeshadows was £2.50 - i had a bougeois one before that was of similar quality for 4x the price. i love a smokey eye effect so i will get full use out of this - when im not doing smokey eye i use a white/cream colour eyeshadow which is why i also bought the shade 2 pearl eyeshadow - it has shimmers/glitters and its such nice consistancy i cannot believe it was only £1. staying on the mua products ive picked up these little pink polishes as everyone needs 234546 different shades of pink to choose from they are really cute colours and after applying just one coat im impressed and two coats would easily give a great cover- well worth a pound!

after look relased their make up range - bloggers went maddd reviewing the products however i didnt see any for this powder, i am a fan of loose powder and i do go for light shades but ive never used a translucent powder i am yet to try this out on my face but it smells lovely and the powder is a nice feel- also the pot is LUSH! it has a mirror and the plastic inside to stop the powder falling out is really nice its lovely compared to some powders that GO EVERYWHERE!

i use batistes dry shampoo all the time whether its between washes or to matte my hair i live by the stuff- i always always have at least two cans at a time so when i saw superdrug had them on offer i had to pick some up- ive not used the brit one before i stick to the blush one but they didnt have any so i thought id brave the brit one and it smells lovely- i did smell the tropical one but it smells like malibu and makes me feel sick - especially the morning after a night out ;)

still yet to try the eyeliner and the face wash (the face wash smells like cucumber ;))

have you bought anything recently ?
