PARENTING: HELPING TO KEEP YOUR BABIES SKIN HEALTHY

Babies have especially delicate skin, so it’s both important and beneficial to look after it where you can. Healthy, smooth, soft skin can help keep your baby happy and comfortable throughout the day. So, with that in mind, here are some ways that you can help to keep your baby’s skin healthy.

Reducing the risk of rashes

The right clothing can be a great way to help keep a baby comfortable while also helping to avoid the risk of any rashes developing through skin irritation.

For example, if you’re looking for clothes that fasten closed, either with zips or buttons, try to find styles that have a layer of fabric between the fasteners and your baby’s skin, so there’s nothing digging into them while they move around.

Look for clothing that’s made from 100% cotton, which can help reduce friction on the skin while your baby moves about through the day. Consider looking for organic cotton, which will have been farmed without the use of potentially harmful chemicals and fertiliser, making it easier on skin, as well as more environmentally friendly.

Providing relief for nappy rashes and other issues.

Nappy rash is also something you should be aware of. This can develop for quite a few reasons, from a nappy chafing the skin, to being unable to change a nappy, such as overnight or during a long journey.

If it does develop, gently clean your skin with perfume-less soap and baby wipes, before gently patting to fully dry the area. Applying a product like Chemist-4-U Dermacort Cream before putting a new nappy on can also to create a protective barrier for the skin to help stop further irritation or rashes developing.

Things like insect bites, nettle stings and friction burns can be harder to prevent, though. These can cause a lot of pain, irritation and inflammation to a baby’s delicate skin. Quickly applying a medicinal cream to the affected areas can help these small injuries heal quicker, while also helping to reduce any pain and discomfort, meaning your baby can be back to their happy self before you know it.

Keeping covered through the seasons

The highs and lows of the year bring very different kinds of temperatures and weather to deal with, so it’s useful to stay prepared when it comes to looking after your baby’s skin.

In the summer and early autumn, where temperatures are higher and the sun is shining, it’s nice to get out in the fresh air and play around. While out, make sure to protect their skin by applying a fairly high SPF sun cream, especially if your child has particularly pale skin. This will help prevent sunburn, which can be particularly painful for a baby’s delicate skin.

In the winter, babies are at particular risk because they aren’t able to regulate their body temperature as well as adults. They also lose body heat a lot quicker when exposed to the cold. Making sure they’re wrapped up warm when they’re outside can help avoid frostbite.  You should also provide lots of water, so that they don’t lose too much moisture while out in the cold. Keeping advice like this in mind can help keep your baby happy and healthy long-term.

REVIEW: ORIGINS MASK MARVELS GIFT SET

Origins Mask Marvels - £20 from Boots

Origins is such a great brand, they are one of those brands that I just seem to love everything i've tried. So just before Christmas this Origins gift set was avaliable in boots and it was such a great price! Clint actually bought it for me for Christmas. Its still avaliable on the Boots website for just £20.
The sizes are a little bit smaller than the Full Size bottles these are 75ml instead of 100ml but at just £20 for three bottles its a bargain.

Clear improvement mask- This is a charcoal mask, designed to clear pores. The Charcoal dries quite quickly on the skin, and when you rinse your skin actually feels clean and clearer. I open my pores using a hot towel and then layer up the product. I use this once a week or every couple of weeks, when I need to clear my pores.

Out of Trouble 10 minute rescue- Great for oily skin like mine. Just layer it on and wash off after 10 minutes its so easy to use. I think it combats my oilier areas and clears dead skin and dirt aswell. Such a great all round product.

Drink up Intensive mask - This is an overnight mask, i love it! It smells amazing and it hydrates the skin. Throughout the day your skin looses moisture so this quenches your skins thirst throughout the night. Keeps skin looking smoother and younger.

As I said this set is such a great value for money, especially for someone who wants to try out some Origins products.

REVIEW : ORIGINS GinZing Energy-boosting moistuizer

Origins GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer - rrp £23.00 - Boots

So I got myself a very good bargain ! I picked this up in the boots clearance section for £10 !! saving a whopping £13. I have no idea why it was reduced but I had to have it!

I've tried a sample of the GinZing moisturizer before and I really do like the light-weight texture. I don't really like heavy moisurisers because I have oily skin and I find some moisturizers tend to make my skin appear greasy.

The GinZing is a nice formula, its light and smells amazing ! Its got a very orangy/ citrus scent so your skin feels awake and amazing.

I do feel that this moisturiser tends to make my t-zone a little more oily than usual :( but it definatly moisturises the skin and I would recommend it to those with very dry skin as it will work wonders. I will still continue to use it as I really like how it creates a warm glowy appearance on my skin.

Elemis Body Sculpting Firming System

Elemis body sculpting firming system - £62* - Buy online at timetospa.co.uk

The Elemis Body Sculpting firming system duo is a two phase system that together refines and firms your body.

First of all you use the Lipo-Refining serum. Apply to areas of concern using the Elemis body sculpting self massage technique. Clinical studies prove that the bodies contours can appear slimmed and reduces the visible signs of cellulite.

Then follow with the firming cream again using the self massage technique and the natural extracts in the cream make the skin appear firmer and smoother.

I've been using the duo on my thighs and have noticed that the appearance of cellulite has been reduced and that my legs have been feeling firmer. I think my legs look better since i've started using this duo and I would recommend it to those who are want to appear firmer.

The smell is gorgeous and the skin feels really soft after using the duo, it does take a little while to dry into the skin so I normally apply a while before I get dressed.

I don't get cream blushers

 Benefit - fine one one*
Bourjois - Cream Blush 03
Topshop - Louise Gray Cream blush Duo

I thought i'd show you guys my cream blushers. I picked up these three up in a short space of time. I don't really like cream blushers so these three basically sit in my drawer unused!

I just can't seem to apply cream blushers - I literally look like i've walked into something when I apply these to my cheeks.

I've tried watching videos etc and still can't seem to master it. If you have any tips or if you have a problem with cream blushers I would love to know!

Benefit's fine one one really attracted me- the packaging is nice and I love the idea of the different shades and a highlighter. I also like the idea that you can swipe it on easily.

I wanted the Bourjois blush so bad! Everyone was raving about it so I had to have it!

The topshop blush duo was in the sale for like £3 so I picked it up and I love the orange and pink shades.

The Essentials

Batiste dry shampoo// Wella Silvikrin// Nair Brazillian Spa Clay Collection*// Nivea Express Hydration//Arm and Hammer Enamel Care*// Femfresh soothing wash*// Vaseline cocoa radiant// Femfresh wipes*// Lush ultrabland// skin therapy wipes// The Body Shop foaming facial wash// Balance me wonder eye cream// Balance me face moisturiser// Nivea hand lotion//

I've decided to put together this post of essentials! I do use alot of products and I love trying out new ones! This is a post of products i've tried and  some that I use religiously! Its also some products that I really want to review or mention but I don't really want to do a full post about one product so this way i'm posting about loads of really good products but getting all the important information out.

Dry shampoo! - I LOVE THE STUFF! I've tried the new timotei one and its nothing compared to batiste. Blush is my favourite and I use the original one if superdrug don't have it! (btw its like always on offer in superdrug so check there if you wanna buy it ) I have blonde hair so the way it makes your hair abit white doesn't affect me but they do other ones for different hair colours and it brushes out ! I love how you can get away with washing your hair and how it just freshens your hair up. dry shampoo is a must have!

Hairspray - I don't use alot of hairspray but when I do its Wella Silvikrin in firm hold or ultra hold! It doesn't have a nasty hairspray smell and it holds your hair up; does what it says on the tin ;)

Hair Removal- The Nair products are all new to me, I wanted to review the wax strips and was really excited to try them but then i wimped out and decided to try the shower power foam instead! It smells like most Nair products and is like a cream. You apply a thick layer before you shower and wait a couple of minutes then you go in the shower but try and not get wet and then use the spatula to remove the cream - removing the hair. Its really good and leaves your legs smooth and soft. I'm yet to try the wax strips.

Femfresh range- I won't go into much detail about this range but I will say that I defiantly recommend it.

Moisturisers- I love cocoa butter but I find palmers abit expensive and the smell is very powerful whereas this vaseline cocoa butter has a lovely smell and it moistures the skin- I got this on offer in superdrug for just under £2 which is like half the price of the palmers one.
The Nivea express hydration range is really good, it defiantly does the job when it come to hydrating the skin- I have very dry skin and this is perfect and it absorbs quickly.
I love hand creams and this is my favourite one! - when I take my nail varnish off I like to use this on my hands and nails- you only need to use a tiny pea size amount.

Face- The balance me range is really nice! I love these small sample size creams to keep in my make up bag for when I stop at dans. The eye cream is really nice- I'm not normally a fan of eye cream but I do love this! I also use lush Ultrabland on my face its a cleanser which is great for sensitive skin and also to remove make up because it contains beeswax. Also people with problem skin should use this on its own to bring the skin back to normal balance. I love foaming facial wash so when I finished my No 7 one I tried this body shop one and its really nice - it smells nice and isn't harsh on the skin at all!

I've been trying loads of new teeth products- I've been researching getting my teeth whitened but apparently it can cause alot of damage to your enamel so I've been using stain removal toothpaste and I'm gonna start using Arm & Hammer Enamel Care Sensitive toothpaste that restores surface enamel, It contains baking soda that is supposed to whiten your teeth more gently, its also for sensitive teeth.
