EVENT: STILA SUMMER LAUNCH EVENT

Today I went along to Harvey Nichols Birmingham for the Stila Summer Launch. Their new products include 12 brand new lipglosses and 2 brand new eyeshadow palettes! The event was great and the lovely Sascha went through the new products with us and did a whole make up look using the new products and some Stila must haves!

The new Stila Beauty Boss Lip Gloss comes in 12 amazing shades from those everyday nudes, red and pinks to a more bold bright pink, purple and darker shades like Bonus Baby and In The Black.

'Stila's new lip gloss features the next generation of light-refracting, iridescent pearls to create intense shine, pure color and amplified dimension. The hyaluronic filling spheres and luminous oils add natural-looking volume and glow, without burning or stinging

The packaging is gorgeous, similar to the glitter and glow eyeshadow packaging but longer in length. The applicator is lovely and you get a really decent amount of product. The formula isn't really sticky, it's smooth on the lips and leaves them feeling hydrated.  They are £14 each which is such a good price as you get alot of product!

Stila have released two very impressive eye shadow palettes, one of which is limited edition! They are £48 each which I think is a little pricey however you get 12 really decent sized shadows! They are amazing quality and you get a great selection of colours and textures so it's well worth the money.

Happy Hour is a limited edition luxe palette of 12 shades!

All 12 shades are specially formulated with micronized, silicone-treated pigments for superior blending and ultra-rich, uniform color and dimension.'

They are full size shadows so you get a lot of product in the palette, there's a good mixture of matte, shimmer and glitter shadows so this palette can create so many looks! Happy Hour has a pastel colour pallete, theres a gorgeous rose matte and nude matte shade, a black and cream/white matte shade. Theres a gorgeous lilac glitter shade which looks fab! The deep gold shimmer on the top row is beautiful! This palette has such a fab range of colours to play with.

The After Hours palette is a little more me! There's more shades that I would wear and I think most people would feel the same. I love the burnt orange and peachy shades!! These are beautiful. There's some nude and brown matte shades that you can use along side the gold and champagne glitter and shimmers! The colour pay off of each shade is gorgeous and the glitters and shimmers are so pigmented and creamy! They are seriously beautiful palettes.

We also had a look at some 'must have' Stila products for the summer! Such as the Lingerie Souffle Skin Perfecting Primer and Skin perfecting colour. These create the perfect base for those warmer days! Heavens Hue Highlighter is such a gorgeous highlighter to add some glow to any look!

It was such a lovely event, we have kindly been gifted a couple of the new lip glosses! Excited to try them as I'm not normally a fan of a lipgloss!

BEAUTY: STILA BOHEMIAN BEAUTY

I recently went along to a blogger event at Harvey Nichols in Birmingham and got to check out all of latest products in the new Stila Spring collection. The collection is called Bohemian Beauty. The range has a boho, gypsy vibe to it and concentrates on colours and textures.

There's lots of new products in the range and lots of amazing new shades to choose from. The collection is huge.

I have been given a few bits from the new collection and thought i'd feature them on my blog. I have been using them and thought i'd share my first impressions.

I'm loving the Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Jezabel, it's a gorgeous Rose Gold Shade. I fell in love with this at the event and it was in my goody bag which was amazing. I've used it everyday this week and it's just such a lovely product. The Shimmer & Glow contains the same translucent adhesive base formula as the original Glitter & Glow but with a smaller particle pearl for high impact shimmering colour minus the Glitter. I haven't used the Glitter & Glow shadows before but have heard really good things. The Shimmer & Glow shadow is basically the same but without the glitter so it's a little more subtle for everyday. Jezebel is a gorgeous Rose Gold shade, it's a pink/ gold shade and has a beautiful shimmer finish. It's so easy to blend out or you can just sweep it across the lid for a more pigmented finish. I've been blending it out and working a darker shade into the corner.

I've also been loving the Stila smudge Kajal Eye liner in Sapphire, it's this beautiful dark navy blue shade. I have never worn a blue eyeliner before as I felt it would look dated but this shade is gorgeous. I've been wearing it all week and I think it brings out the blue in my eyes. It makes my eyes stand out more and i've been wearing it along side the Jezebel eyeshadow and it works really well. I've applied the liner to my lid and under my eye and blended it out. They also have an Intense Black, Nude and Espresso shade too.

I haven't tried the liquid lipstick just yet but the Stila Matte Liquid lipsticks are so good. They are a really creamy formula and not drying on the lips at all. Stila have released some beautiful new shades for the spring collection, I love the look of Dolce Vita. As well as the original Stay all day liquid lipstick they have released a shimmer formula and and sheer finish. They have the same staying power and same amazing feel but without the matte finish. The Sheer liquid lipstick is a matte finish but with a more translucent finish so it's more of a wash of colour and the shimmer liquid lipstick has a metallic shimmering finish.

I will be putting up a post about the Stila blogger event that I attended with more images of the whole range so be sure to check that out.

BEAUTY: JAMES BUSHELL HARVEY NICHOLS BIRMINGHAM REVIEW

I was recently invited along to the James Bushell salon in Harvey Nichols Birmingham to go along to have my hair done. I went in for a consultation and patch test and spoke to a stylist about what I wanted to achieve and how we could go about this and I got booked in.

The salon is located inside Harvey Nichols at The Mailbox in Birmingham, It's a nice little salon and is within the beauty hall so you can have a little browse at the make up and other beauty products before or after your appointment. Harvey Nichols also offer other beauty services such as nails, brows and waxing so you can have a whole pamper day. I saw people having their brows and nails done before having their hair done.

We started by going over what I wanted my hair to look like. I explained to Ryan my stylist that I wanted to go a more lighter blonde. I haven't had my hair coloured for such a long time so most of my hair was my natural colour which is a dark blonde. My hair was very dry, brittle and damaged from heat tools. I wanted a natural blonde but not too yellow, I wanted a more ashy toned blonde. I wanted to go for a balayage technique as I like having darker roots as I find this easier to manage. This also adds blonde to my hair but keeping it natural. For my hair cut I just wanted a trim, I like the length of my hair but it needed tidying up. I like being able to put my hair up for ease so I wanted to keep the length for this reason. Ryan explained that he would make my roots a little darker by painting on a colour to my roots, and then using foils would apply the blonde to the length of my hair, he used Olaplex with the colour to repair and prevent any further damage to my hair. I was very happy that Ryan understood what I wanted and he started.

He painted on a darker colour to my roots, The colour of my roots was fine but the darker colour creates more contrast with the blonde and my natural colouring is quite warm but the darker shade is more ashy and cool so works well with the blonde.

He then went on to add the colour to the length and went all around my head with foils and applied the blonde colouring. He had already told me about Olaplex at the consultation and we both agreed that it would be perfect for my hair to restore my hair and prevent any further damage. I wanted a nice blonde that was natural and not to warm or yellowy. I wanted a nice ashy light blonde that looked natural.

After the colour was applied I was popped under a lamp for a little while and had a nice cuppa and a flick through some magazines. It was nice to just chill out and have a little me time. I love being a mum but it is very full on and it was lovely to just relax and not have to worry about Amelia for a couple of hours ( she was off mooching the shops with her daddy)

After being under the heat lamp for abit I was taken over to get the colour washed off. This is a little area around the corner. I love getting my hair washed by someone else. They applied a toner to my hair and left this on for 5 minutes and then rinsed with a shampoo and conditioner.

I was then taken back round to my seat and Ryan discussed my hair cut and we decided to dry my hair first as we'd discussed potentially putting in a few extra layers to thin my hair out abit but I decided against this in the end because my hair goes quite wavy when I have layers and right now I just want my hair to be manageable and easy. He dried my hair and chopped off all the dead ends, this made it look so much healthier.

After cutting my hair Ryan asked how i'd like my hair styled, I wanted it curly as I love having my hair curly and i'd had it curly for my before picture.

I am so so happy with how my hair turned out, it's actually perfect and exactly what I wanted. I love the colour and i'm really happy with the length. I didn't want alot cut off but I wanted it to look fresh and like i'd had a hair cut. The colour is lovely and i'm really happy with the balayage and how the colour blends together, it looks very natural.

Ryan was just lovely, he is really friendly and attentive. He listened to what I wanted and I got exactly what I asked for, he is very very good at his job. He made sure I was happy the whole time and couldn't have done more. He kept asking me if I was excited to see the final result which was lovely. I felt like he was really excited to see the end result and see my reaction.

I can't fault anything, the salon was lovely and every member of staff was helpful, friendly and polite. The salon is in a great location and had a good flow of customers. The salon felt busy but not too busy, it had a nice atmosphere. I would definitely go back and I have already recommended the salon to my friends and family. The prices at the salon are abit more than I would usually pay to get my hair done but I was so happy with the outcome that I will be going back.

James Bushell have salons around Birmingham, aswell as the Harvey Nichols store they also have a salon in Edgbaston and Solihull. They have a huge range of services such as balayage, extensions, Olaplex and Bridal so check them out if you are looking for a new salon.
