AD REVIEW: THE LITTLE OWL SOLIHULL

[AD-Gifted]- Our meal was kindly gifted in return for a review. My review is honest and my own views and opinions.

This evening we headed to The Little Owl in Solihull, it's on Bickenhill Parkway, so super close to the airport, International rail station and the NEC, so a great location if your in Solihull or surrounding areas and looking for a little pub for food and a few drinks.

The Little Owl is our local Vintage Inn pub, they boast about their burning log fires and beautiful beer gardens. They serve hearty pub favourites as well as a seasonal menu so there is something for everyone. They also have a great selection of drinks, even their own Cask Ale. They also do Sunday Lunch so if your after a traditional roast then check out your local Vintage Inn.

We pulled up and it's such a lovely looking pub, I can't wait to head back in the summer and have a few gins in their beer garden. It's a very pretty pub and inside didn't disappoint either. It is so cosy and rustic! The log fires and brickwork are lovely, even the chairs and artwork on the walls were just so charming.

We ordered drinks first, I had a Pink Gin and Lemonade and Clint had a Pint of Doom Bar which is one of their Cask Ales.

We then had a look at the Menu, as well as a main menu they have daily specials and also offer a Lunch and Dinner time set price menu so be sure to head on over to their website and check out their offers. They also have a Childrens menu and Vegan Menu.

I ordered the Wagyu Burger and skin-on fries. The Wagyu Burger is made from Premium beef and served in a Brioche Bun with Salsa, mixed leaf and horseradish served with onion rings! It was an impressive burger. It was so tasty and the horseradish was lovely!! You can create the perfect burger for you as they have a good list of add on's for the burgers.

Clint opted for the Lasagne, (surprise, surprise) he loves a good Lasagne! and this one ticked all of his boxes. He said it was delicious! He basically scraped the bowl clean! It comes with Triple cooked chips and is a really good portion size. It looked so good! He also said his Doom Bar Ale really complimented the food.

We didn't have starters so that we would have room for deserts! There was a really good list of deserts full of your usual pub favourites. I had the chocolate brownie, and Clint had the Banoffee Pie! Both looked amazing and were really well presented and good sizes. It was lovely and rich but not too rich! The Banoffe Pie looked lovely and Clint really enjoyed it! If your not one for a big pudding, why not order a hot drink with a mini pudding?!

Overall we had such a lovely evening at The Little Owl, the atmosphere was really nice, it was chilled and their was a really nice vibe! The food was great and it is such a stunning pub. The staff were all really friendly and our server was so helpful and offered recommendations. I really want to go back for a Sunday Lunch as it looks fab!! I also think we may spend a few afternoons in the summer chilling in the beer garden! Would defo recommend!

FASHION: HOLIDAY STYLES

Holiday season is officially here, and boy are we excited to get some sun, sea, and even the sand! There’s no better time in your life than going on holiday, because you’re just able to have so many different experiences than you would at home. But, if there’s one thing that us girls seem to love the most, it’s shopping for holiday clothes. So much planning goes into this process, and even though we love it, we have to admit that it’s definitely one of the most annoying parts. You have to try and imagine what you want to look like every night, what you’re going to be up to, and you’ll always end up buying a few extra unnecessary outfits. Whether you over pack or not, we think we’ve got some excellent holiday styles that you should be adding to your list. Have a read on to find out more.

Beachwear

Considering you’re going to spend most of your time at the beach or by the pool, beachwear is the first thing that you should be thinking about. It all depends on what you feel comfortable in, but we think we’ve got a few styles that you’ll like. Coming back in with force is the bathing suit at the minute, and there’s plenty out there taking the shine. We think simple colours such as white, black, or even pinks are greens are the best to go for. You can now get high rise ones as well, meaning they’re slightly more flattering from behind. A high rise swim suit with a plunge front would be perfect for a day at the pool or the water park. Or, you could go for a funky patterned bikini, again with high rising waistline. Then, you need to think about cover ups and kaftans, and there are plenty of them. We’re really loving the lacey look for these, going for either a black or white colour on them.

Night Time

The night time is the most exciting part for a lot of you. It gives you a chance to dress up, drink too many cocktails, and eat a lot of fine foods. We recommend going for the float look, or maxi dresses. A float dress or skirt will keep you nice and cool, but still looks really pretty. In case it gets cold, it might be worth having a look at denim jackets, or light cardigans if you know it isn’t going to go that cold. You should always have a little clutch bag with you to carry your essentials, and we think that sticking to wedges or sandals is best for the night time. You don’t want to be hurting your feet with all of the walking around you’ll be doing.

Accessory Essentials

Accessories are essential on holiday, and we think you’ve got a few that you definitely need to pack. First on your list should be sun glasses, and we don’t think you should just go for the one pair. Take a couple, because one is bound to scratch or break, and then you’ve got a few choices to keep it varied. Then you need to think about necklaces and earrings to spice up your outfits a little. Go for colours if you’re wearing black, and throw in some silver and gold for those elegant nights.

AMELIAS FIRST HOLIDAY

We've just got back from our first family holiday with Amelia. We spent a few days in Great Yarmouth at the Haven Caravan site in Hopton on Sea.

We went with my mom and dad and my sister, her boyfriend and their baby!

We had a lovely few days we went to the beach, took the kiddies swimming, played a few games of bowling, watched the football, went to the Pleasure Beach and went on loads of rides.

It was hard work having the two babies with us and it was very different to holidays i've taken before having a baby!

We didn't have the best weather either which made it difficult as we had packed quite summery outfits for the babies but it was very nippy.

We had a lovely first holiday and I thought i'd share a few holiday snaps

FASHION: MY FAVOURITE SUMMER TRENDS

We have been having some seriously gorgeous weather so I wanted to share a few of my favourite summer trends and picks from the highstreet right now!

I've always been a lover of a good summery dress and I tend to wear a lot of dresses throughout the summer, I have actually found myself reaching for comfy tshirts and jeans or culottes right now so I need to buy a few nice dresses for the summer months.

I love this Khaki shirt dress, I think this would look fab with some tan sandals and a pretty round straw bag. I love midi length dresses and think they really suit me, they are also perfect for the UK as sometimes it's warm enough for a dress but I don't necessarily want to get my legs out.

Here's another lovely midi length dress, this one is a little more casual. I'm loving the whole buttons down the front trend this summer. There's some really gorgeous tops and dresses with pretty button detailing on which is such a nice addition to a casual top or dress. I love this rust colour as it really suits me and is a nice transitional colour from summer into autumn,

I love this plunge tie detailing on these dresses and tops right now, I think the bow detailing is so lovely and again add's a little subtle detail so a nice simple dress or top. Head over to www.upbra.com to check out their line of Upbra® Cleavage Enhancing bras, they use the new patented ActiveLift® technology to give more cleavage to smaller cup sizes and more lift to women with larger cup sizes, better than any other bra. These dresses will look so much better with a well fitted plunge style bra that gives a great cleavage.

I love this pink /blush culotte jumpsuit and think it would be gorgeous dressed up with some high sandals or dressed down with a pair of flat sandals for the days time.

I love sandals and I always buy a few new pairs of sandals each summer. I work in retail and wear sandals every single day of the summer even if it's raining as they look good with my work dresses and my feet get too hot in anything else. I love these Rose gold sandals, they would look soo good with any of these outfits, I really like these little black western sandals too and would pair these with something like white polka dot tie dress.

I don't know what it is about dungaree dresses but every year I want to get one. I think they look super cute with a little stripe tee and a pair of converse, the perfect summer/ festival trend.

So yeah i'm loving these summer trends and these are so bits that i'm loving right now, I really want to buy the Rust midi dress and I love the mustard top with the white button down midi skirt. What are your favourite summer trends?

FASHION: SUMMER FASHION PICKS

PLAYSUIT: QUIZ US // STRAW BAG: TOPSHOP // SHOES: OFFICE // TSHIRT: RIVER ISLAND // STRIPE JUMPSUIT: BOOHOO // ROSE GOLD SHOES : BOOHOO // ORANGE TROUSERS: RIVER ISLAND // POLKA DOT PLAYSUIT: BOOHOO

It's starting to actually feel like summer woohoo! I'm feeling very inspired and really want to go out and get some new summery additions for my wardrobe. I thought i'd share a few bits and pieces that i'm loving right now!

First up how cute and summery is this playsuit from Quiz, it's gorgeous! I love the green and white and think you could easily dress this up or down depending on what accessories you went for. They have a really good selection of playsuits and dresses perfect for the summer.  Quiz is expanding to the US for any of my US readers.

Next up is this jumpsuit from Boohoo, again I think you could dress this up or down. I love stripes and I would add some colour to this by wearing a brightly coloured bag and shoes.

How gorgeous are these Rose Gold sandals from Boohoo. I love the colour and the style and think they are such a versatile piece to add to my collection.

These Orange paper bag trousers are a little out of my comfort zone but absolutely gorgeous! I'm trying to be a little bit braver with my clothing choices. I feel like i'm a little bit stuck in a rut with my fashion.

Straw bags are so on trend this summer so this cute lobster one from Topshop would make a lovely addition to any bag collection.

This cute little tshirt is from River Island and I tried it on the other day and it's just lovely. I love the pearl detailing which makes it so cute and a little bit nicer than your basic white tee.

The polka dot playsuit is from Boohoo and I'm just a little obsessed with polka dots right now and I love a good playsuit so i'd love something like this.

I'm loving mustard right now and recently bought a similar pair of mustard shoes, I think they add a really nice pop of colour to an outfit, you can see how I styled my pair of mustard sandals in my latest outfit post.

FASHION: SPRING WISHLIST 2018

The BEAST FROM THE EAST may be here but fear not Spring is just around the corner (isn't it?) I hope the weather starts to warm up soon because i'm bored of being cold.

Here's some transitional pieces to see you into Spring 2018. First is this gorgeous Pink cardigan from River Island. I'm loving pink right now and this cardigan is perfect to layer up and keep warm but the perfect spring colour. I love the cable knit detail on the arms, it's so cute.

I spotted this bag in Accessorize at a blog event I attended at the Bullring Birmingham Accessorize store. I just love a backback and this lovely blush pink colour is just lovely. Very nude/ natural so will go with everything. Adds a little colour to any outfit. I think backpacks are going to be on trend into spring/summer.

I'm loving this blue floral shirt dress from Fashionworld.co.uk . It's just such a lovely print, i'm a big fan of the blue stripe detail on the shirt too. It ties at the waist so is super flattering. This would look perfect with bare legs and some cute little tan boots like these ones from Office or you could wear it with jeans or leggings if you don't want to have your legs out.

This stripe jumper is from New Look, i'm loving all of the contrasting stripes. I think stripes is such a spring trend. I love the different shades of pink/ peach and the black and white breaks up the colour which is lovely.

How cute are these pink trainers, i've been looking for a pair of blush pink trainers for a while. There's so many pairs to choose from, I love the suede puma's and I've seen a cute pair of converse. I was just browsing Office and spotted these gorgeous Ted Baker pumps, they are lovely just such a lovely pair of pumps perfect if you like to wear a comfy shoe, I think these would look lovely with a nice pair of blue jeans.

LIFESTYLE: PICKING THE PERFECT WINTER HOLIDAY DESTINATION

We love going on holiday, we actually haven't had a holiday this year because we've been trying to save money as we have a baby on the way. I think we will book a couple of holidays for next year hopefully one before the summer holidays and maybe a winter sun holiday. It will be so exciting to go away on our first holiday with our baby.

We usually book a week away for around this time of year to get away and find some sun.  I love heading off to the Canaries as the weather is great all year round! We have been to nearly all of the Canary Islands, they are one of my favourite places to go and we will be heading there next year as I think it's the perfect destination to take the baby as it has good weather is isn't too far away, it's about 4ish hours on the plane.

One of my favourite places in the Canary Islands is Gran Canaria, it's such a beautiful island with lots of gorgeous flowers around, pretty white buildings and sandy beaches. I really like Puerto Mogan which is one of the little market towns on the island. We've been there a few times to visit the market and to see all the amazing boats in the harbor.

Spending time at the beach or by the pool just relaxing and reading a few books is how I like to spend my holiday. There's some really lovely beaches in Gran Canaria, my favourite is Amadores Beach. We usually stay in the Amadores area so we are close to the beach, the location is really good as you are right around the corner from Puero Rico which is where the nightlife, restaurants and shops are.

Are you planning on getting away this Winter and need some help picking a destination? Check out the Destinations page on Holiday Gems to get lots of ideas on places to go this season.

LIFESTYLE: WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR HOLIDAY PHOTOS?

We haven't had a holiday this year so i've been looking back through my photos of our previous holidays. I've been to lots of amazing places over the last few years, Florida, Ibiza and the Canaries. Destination2.co.uk are running a campaign all about Catching and Creating Memories While Travelling so I thought i'd share some of my favourite holiday memories and what I do with my holiday photos.

You can check out one of my recent blog posts all about my favourite holiday moments, we recently went to Ibiza and Florida and had the most amazing time.

I love taking photos on holiday, of places and people. I like to look back at photos and remember the amazing times we've had and I always seem to remember the good times better when i'm looking back through photos.

Most of my photos just end up on my laptop in folders and on memory cards, I sometimes upload them to Facebook so that my family and friends can see them( yes i'm one of those annoying friends that uploads their holiday snaps)

I also have a few photo albums and keep some of my favourite snaps in these to look back on. These are handy to show photos to family that don't really like computers or don't have Facebook.  I also like to just sit and look through them every now and again, I've always liked having actual photos printed out and it's so easy to do now as there's so many app's you can use to print photos and it's really affordable to get them printed now.

As well as my photo albums I have lots of frames dotted around my apartment these are just a few of my favourite frames but we have them in every room, even the hallway. We have had some really amazing times together over the last 4 years and I love having photos around to remind us of all the special times we've spent together.

We are about to have a baby and i'm so excited to go on our first family holiday, i'm going to take photos of absolutely everything and I will be filling up photo albums with our family snaps to keep them safe forever and ever. What do you do with your holiday photos, do they just end up on your laptop or do you get them printed out? Do you have any amazing holidays coming up? If you need some inspiration then check out lots of amazing destinations here on Destination2.co.uk

*Collaboration with Destination2.co.uk, they did not pay for this post however they did gift me a voucher to buy some new albums/ frames for my photos
