LIFESTYLE: FITNESS ON A BUDGET

I thought i'd share a few tips on how I keep fit on a budget, since having our own flat I had to cancel my gym membership. I wanted to keep fit but had to do it on a budget so here's a few tips and tracks on keeping fit and working out but without breaking the bank.

1. Walk! This is the easiest and cheapest form of exercise. Whether you walk the dog or walk to work. Maybe you get the bus to work, get off a few stops before and walk the rest of the way.

2. You don't have to spend loads on your workout gear. New Look have a huge selection of sportswear. They have some really gorgeous bits and it's so affordable. I have featured some of my favourite picks from the range in the photos in this post. The Dark Grey Space Dye Print leggings are really comfy and look great on. They have breathable technology which resists water. The vest is black with a white marble print. The Vest is really lightweight and so comfy. It has a mesh / breathable racerback. I wore this at the gym today and it was really comfortable and looked great.
I'm so happy with this grey cowl neck sports jumper, it's really comfy and it kept me really warm whilst I was out at the park today and was great when I walked home from the gym. It would be great if you was going to go for a jog outside and didn't want a big coat, they have a great selection of jumpers and sweatshirts to check out.  It's been really cold recently so I picked out this long sleeve workout top as I don't have anything with long sleeves. I only have vests, this is a simple top. It's quite fitted and looks lovely. I like that it has thumb holes too. The material is a good quality. The pattern/ colour is really versatile and easy to wear.

3. Watch some workout videos on youtube or get some fitness DVDS and do some workouts at home

4. Do some housework, run up and down the stairs you don't have to have a gym membership to keep fit.

5. Use fitness apps ! Use Map my run to track your runs/ jogs, they also have a map my walk app to track your walks, I use this for power walks. Seven is a good app too it works on the stomach and abbs and is really quick and easy.

6. You can get free day passes to some gyms so you can use the facilities for the day. This is a great way to use a gym without spending loads on a membership.

7. Go outdoors! I like to go to the park and do some jogging or sprinting. Take a yoga mat with you and enjoy working out at the park. A change of scenery makes working out easier.

I hope you like my tips, i've actually rejoined the gym this week so I want to include more fitness/ healthy lifestyle blog posts on my blog.

LIFESTYLE: HOW TO STAY HEALTHY ON A BUDGET

Here's a few tips on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle on a budget, I will include a few fitness tips too on how you can keep fit on a budget too

1. Plan your meals, by planning meals you won't waste as much food. Write a shopping list based on your list and use up any veg/ salad before buying more.

2. Buy frozen veg, I tend to use frozen veg as this is just as good as the fresh stuff but it lasts alot longer so again no waste.

3. Don't go shopping hungry! Shopping is a great workout as you get lots of steps in but if your snacking all the way round then its pointless so have food before heading to the supermarket.

4. We shop at Tesco and always get vouchers and coupons in the post so make sure you have your coupons ready before you get to the till so you don't forget. The self scanners in Tesco are also a great way to keep track on what your spending as you scan as you walk around the supermarket.

5. Drink Plenty of water. Water actually makes you feel full and stops you getting dehydrated. You will be more productive if you are hydrated.

6. Cut out those coffees from the coffee shop and bring your own drinks to work. You can get sugar-free syrups from most supermarket so make your own and see how much you save.

7. Bring your own lunch to work. I always do my own lunch, My favourite lunch is a sweet potato jacket, you can get these in the freezer section of your supermarket. They take about 6 mins in the microwave. I fill my plate with lots of lovely salad and beans, and it keeps me full till dinner time.

Here's a few fitness on a budget tricks.

8. Youtube is a great source for videos, tutorials etc so Check out youtube for workouts don't waste money on fitness DVD's

9. If you'd rather use a fitness DVD buy them 2nd hand from charity shops or CEX

10. Walk the dog, run up and down the stairs, do the vacuuming. You don't need a fancy gym membership to burn those calories.

11. Most gyms offer free day passes or sometimes week passes. Check out your local gyms websites and see what offers they have. Sometimes they have a bring a friend day so see if your friend who goes the gym would mind bringing you along.

FITNESS: JANUARY FITNESS WISHLIST

So it's January, you know what that means along with everyone!! I'm getting back on Slimming World and want to start exercising again. My workout DVD is coming back out and i'm gonna start jogging again. I really want a Fitbit and have been researching them today I think the Flex 2 or the Alta would be perfect for me. I have my polar HR watch when i'm working out but the fitbit would be great for everyday and when i'm at work. I just came across Fabletics fitness clothing, they have some great outfits and some lovely colours and patterns. I could do with new trainers, I prefer nike trainers, these Thea's have been catching my eye for a while. I'd probably get the black and white ones as they are versatile, I wish the grey were still available. The Panache sports bra is my favourite, i'm loving this new pattern. I've had a few Panache sports bras now and I find them so comfortable. I wear panache Envy bra everyday and find it really comfortable. The sports bras have a moulded cup which gives such a great shape for a sports bra and they come in so many colours.

Are you jumping on the fitness bandwagon this month, lets do this!!

LIFESTYLE: HOW PHYSIOTHERAPY CAN HELP YOU STAY FIT?

The Role of Physiotherapy in Preventative Health Care

We all understand, on some level, that the best way to stay healthy is to take steps to protect our health. Most of us now accept that doing certain things, or not developing bad habits can keep us healthy for longer. For example, taking regular exercise and avoiding drinking too much alcohol are both proven ways to get fit, and stay healthy for longer.

Over the years, steps and actions like these have been explained to us multiple times. So, for those who take health seriously not drinking too much and taking regular exercise is almost second nature.
However, there are other less obvious things that you can do to protect yourself from disease and from aging prematurelyFor example, did you know that your local physiotherapist could potentially play an important role in keeping you fit and healthy?

What are physiotherapists?
When you think of physiotherapists, what is the first thing that pops into your head?
I bet you think about someone being helped back to fitness after a serious injury or an athlete being treated so they can train more, and become stronger. This is only natural, because that is how we see physiotherapists portrayed in the media.

How can a physiotherapist can help you to stay fit?
However, did you know that a good physiotherapist could help you to stay fit too? You do not have to be seriously injured, or be an athlete to be able to benefit from their extensive knowledge of your body’s musculoskeletal system.
There is no need to wait to be injured, or for disease to take hold before seeking their help. If you suffer from muscle tension, or have started to notice a particular weakness in a limb a physiotherapist can help.
He or she can analyse your symptoms and give you a thorough check up. Doing so allows the physiotherapist to diagnose the underlying cause of the problem. They can then put together a treatment regime that is tailored to your needs. Taking this approach allows you to spot problems with your body early and tackle them before they become more debilitating.
You can also use a physiotherapist to keep you mobile as you age. Their expertise will enable you to keep your body strong. This means that you will be able to carry on exercising for longer, and, therefore stay fit and active well into old age.

How to find a good physiotherapist ?
Whether you are looking for physiotherapy in Northwich, or in another town you need to take the time to do a little research. It is important to find a practitioner that is properly qualified, well regulated and has the experience you need.
For example, if you live in the UK, finding someone who is registered with the Health & Care Professionals Council would be a good idea. You can check to see if your physiotherapist is registered with them here.

If you live elsewhere in the world you need to identify the relevant governing body, and look for a trained practitioner that is registered with them. It is also important to look for a physiotherapist with relevant experience of treating your particular issue or condition.

FITNESS: MY WEIGHT LOSS UPDATE

Today blog post is going to be about my weightloss journey and I thought i'd give you guys an update on how much weight i've lost and what fitness i've been doing.

My last update was in May, you can check that out here MAY UPDATE  - I had lost 1 stone 6LB

So as you know I recently got back off my holiday I weighed in and I only put on 0.5lb which I was very chuffed with considering i'd been away for 10 days and been off plan for about two weeks.
Now i'm back and at group this week I lost 1lb !! So all together i've lost 2 stone 4.5 lb since I joined Slimming World back in March

I haven't been 100% on track since getting back from Turkey, i've been struggling with food as the weathers been really hot and humid here in the UK. I've had a few really good days and a few really bad days but I still lost which is good.

I want to try and get 100% back on track this week, I know it will be hard with it being warm and the kids holidays so we will be doing more things with friends but the main thing is to have fun and make good decisions.

I've pretty much just been doing Slimming World recently and haven't done much working out because I haven't had time and it's not so fun going for a jog when the sun is blazing and its sooo hot. I have however been walking to work alot and since I got Pokemon Go Clint and I have been going for a few evening strolls as usual i've been using my pedometer to make sure I get over 10,000 steps everyday.

To get to my target weight i've only got 6.5lb to go so now I want to shift it i'm going to be on plan and start excersising again. When I first started loosing weight I was drinking lots of Green Tea but i've since found myself drinking normal tea again so I was thinking I might pick up a Teatox to help shift those last few pounds as the Teatox helps to boost metabolism and cleanses your digestive system.

I'll be sure to keep you up to date with my weightloss and if you want to follow me on instagram I have a Slimming World account which I share my meals on.

FITNESS: SLIMMING WORLD UPDATE

Heyy, so I thought i'd do a little Slimming World update for you guys! This week will be my 10th week. I've been sticking to plan pretty much all the way through, i've had a few off plan meals and a few little treats here and there. Last weekend I fell off the wagon a little and even though my meals were on plan I was snacking and had a few naughty treats. I went to a party on Saturday and had a little too much to drink. I had a really bad hangover on Sunday and had work, I had Rice Crispies for dinner and a sandwhich for lunch which was off plan. I was right back on plan on Monday and have had a really good week, it's wednesday today when i'm writing this but i'm going schedule this post for Friday. I've just got home from my staff meeting and one of the girls brought in Krispy Kremes and I had one, nooo. It was so good!

I've lost 1 Stone 6lb so far! I have won Slimmer of the week 3 times and i've got my Club 10 award. I'm hoping I can get my 1.5 stone award this week!

FITNESS: WORKOUT WISHLIST

I've been itching to buy myself some new gym clothes but i'm waiting until i've lost a little bit more weight as the gym stuff i've got at the moment still fits me fine. I really like looking for gym clothes and have been browsing quite alot recently. I love looking in TKMaxx because you get some really good prices for good brands, I thought i'd share a few bits that are on my wishlist.
Pink Soda is one of Jd Sports own brands and I love their range. I've picked out these super cute grey and pink legging which feel so soft and comfy and they are a cropped leg which I love, I really want to get these and then the matching top has a built in sports bra aswell. I love the colour, it's so pretty and again a really lovely material. I'm not sure if the sports bra bit would fit me but it would be fine for around the house. Next up is this Squat Goals vest from Boohoo which I think is funny but looks comfy enough for working out too. I absolutely love Nike trainers so i've picked out these Nike Thea's which look so pretty, I love the colour it's so unique. They look like really comfy trainers.  I already have a Panache Sports Bra which I reviewed recently but I love this black animal print one. It's such a nice pattern and I love the neon green detailing. Finally I'd love a fitbit, this pink one is really cute. I have a cheaper version of a fitbit which counts my steps but i'd love one that tells you loads of information for example I know some tell you your heart rate and steps etc.

FITNESS: MY SLIMMING WORLD JOURNEY SO FAR

Hello, so incase you didn't know I recently joined Slimming World. I joined on the 10th March so just over a month ago now. I thought i'd share my journey and my progress incase you wanted to give it ago or just find out a little bit more.

I started by following Slimming World accounts via instagram, this gives you ideas about what you can eat and different meal ideas etc. People share snacks and how many syns they are so you can get lots of ideas just by following accounts via instagram, mine is @amypyt_sw

My Slimming World group is so lovely, and my Consultant Gem is great! She's so lovely and she texts me to congratulate me on my weigh in or to just find out how my week has been. We have a facebook group where we all share our meals or just general slimming world things and she's great at commenting and keeping up to date with us all.

I've found it quite easy to be honest there's only been a couple of times that I've had alot of syns and only a couple of times i've really wanted something really bad like a Mcdonalds or Chocolate but i've food optimised and instead I made 5% fat cheeseburgers without the buns or I got some little Malteaser bunnys which are only 8 Syns.

I've found it useful to plan my meals, I have a little planner which is on the kitchen wall which I write down the meals for the week and then I use this to create a shopping list for the week. This way we know what were having and there's no faffing. Sometimes i'd get stressed out trying to pick what to have for dinner and then would decide to get take away instead but this no longer happens

I have been exercising aswell, i've been doing my workout dvds and going for jog / runs. I've been progressing really well with my jogging and i'm actually able to jog for a little while. I know this will improve over time. I've found my pace has been improving and i'm not getting tired as fast. I use my Polar heart rate watch when i'm working out to record how long i've done and how many calories i've burnt. When I do go for runs I use the Map my run app which uses gps to create a map of your journey.

So the weightloss, on my first weigh in I had lost 4LB and then the same again on my 2nd meaning I lost 8LB in two weeks so I got my Half a stone award which was amazing, the next week I lost 3.5LB and then last week I lost another 3LB and got to my 1 stone award which I was so so proud to get.
I have weigh in tonight and will keep you updated with my journey. I hope you like my new fitness and healthy lifestyle blog posts and I hope you want to stay up to date with my journey.

Only 2 more stone to go until I reach my target.

You can follow my slimming world instagram here AMYPYT_SW

MY FIRST WEEK AT SLIMMING WORLD

I'VE JOINED SLIMMING WORLD! Saturday was my first weigh in and i've lost 4LB I'm so proud of myself for sticking to plan all week and I seriously can't believe how good it is. I thought i'd share a few things i've been doing this week and what I thought of my first week and my progress.

The main thing that sold Slimming World to me is that fact that you can eat so much, your allowed to eat whatever you want. Nothing is banned on Slimming World however you have 5-15 syns per day and things like chocolate and naughty things are going to cost you syns.

You can have one Healthy Extra A a day so this is like milk  and cheese, this makes sure your getting the right amount of Calcium each day and one Healthy Extra B so this is bread, cereal or porridge and this means your getting the fibre you need.

After this it's pretty easy, you can eat whatever you like some foods are free meaning you can eat as many as you like and some of these free foods are speed foods. You should eat alot of these as they will help you loose weight faster, you should have 1/3 of each plate full of speed foods. Finally syns, you can find out syns for things by searching the Slimming World App or your book that you get at group, if you can't find something you can usually google it and find out the answer.

I've been so full all week, i've been eating lots of salad, veg and fruit which is fab. I've been cooking new and exciting meals and Clints been eating the same as me so he's really enjoying the recipes too.
Even with work i've stuck to plan and we went for an unplanned meal out the other night and I managed to pick something that only cost me a few syns.

I've decided alongside slimming world I need to make an effort to be more fit and exercise more. I don't want to be all flabby so I'm trying to tone at the same time. I have made an effort to exercise this week. I've been going for walks and doing my fitness dvd which has really motivated me.

I had my first weigh in on Saturday and i'd lost 4LB which is amazing. I'm so happy I decided to join Slimming World and I can't wait for my next weigh in! It's really exciting and everyone at my group is lovely and my consultant is fab!

If you have any questions about Slimming World feel free to leave a comment or email me and i'll try and answer for you, but as I said this is my first week. I've made a Slimming World instagram account so if you want to follow me then here's a link https://www.instagram.com/amypyt_sw/  I am sharing lots of meals and fitness photos.

I'm loving it guys and i'm so glad I decided to join! Let me know if your part of Slimming World and how much weight you've lost ?

LIFESTYLE: CAN FITNESS TRACKERS HELP YOU REACH YOUR DAILY GOAL?

Hello everyone i'm back from Ibiza, i'm hoping to jump right back into blogging. I had some trouble with my Go Pro and have managed to loose all of my videos from Ibiza so i'm trying to retrieve my videos and I will hopefully be uploading an Ibiza Vlog.

Ibiza was amazing but now i'm back and I need to get back into my old routine and get myself back to the gym after a week of drinking and eating Tapas.

I find keeping track of my workouts really motivates me, I use the Polar heart rate monitor and the
My Fitness Pal app. I also occasionally use my pedometrer, to keep a track of my steps whilst i'm at work.

The Polar heart rate monitor is really simple and easy to use. It tells you when you are in the optimum zone whilst you are working out. It records how long you are working out for and how many calories you've burnt. It syncs with most gym equipment aswell making it really reliable.

I then use the My Fitness Pal app to record the information and also add my food and drink though the day. This gives you a little idea of what foods you will have burnt off through the day. I think recording what you eat makes you a little more wary of what your eating and stops you snacking!

A pedometer is a really handy thing to have you can get a pedometer app for your phone. This lets you track how many steps you take and how many calories you loose throughout the day. My job is quite active so I do alot of steps, so its good to keep tabs on this.

The fitbit is a device that actually does everything for you, it records your steps and your workouts, you can even use the fitbit app to log you food intake. There's also challanges to give you that motivation and push if you need it.

There's more information and stats about whether an exercise tracker will actually motivate you here on the Legal and General site

REVIEW: CHARLOTTE'S 3 MINUTE BELLY BLITZ

As you may or may not know i've been trying to loose some weight, I was really asked if i'd be interested in reviewing Charlottes 3 Minute Belly Blitz, I was so excited as i'd heard some great things about this DVD and really wanted to try it for myself.

Charlotte is famous for being part of reality tv show Geordie Shore. She has apparently lost 3 stone from this workout so of course I was really excited to try it.

I've been going to the gym and started walking more, i've also been eating healthily aswell as doing this fitness dvd a few nights a week.

First of all I've found the dvd really easy to follow, there's a warm up and a cool down aswell as 12 3 minute workouts. These consist of about 4 moves that you repeat. The first time I did the dvd I did about 3 or 4 of the workouts and I was so hot! I could feel it working and the next day I was aching.
I can do more of the workouts now and i'm finding it abit easier to do the workouts.

You can pick to do the whole workout or pick individual workouts to do. This makes its great because you can do a little here and there. You can decide what you want to do.
There's different levels aswell so there's a beginners level which you can follow if your not feeling the normal level, this makes the moves a little easier.

It's such an easy to follow step by step dvd, I could feel it working and my abs felt firmer. As I said i'm going to the gym and eating healthy so it's not just the dvd but i've been wearing my polar hear rate monitor and I feel the workouts are good, i'm working out at a good heart rate and burning lots of calories by following the routines.

I was going to buy this dvd myself, I have recommended it to my friends. I think its really good.
Its great that you can work out from home, its great to have this handy when you have a little time to pop it on. I like to do it when i've been at work and I don't feel like going to the gym.

Thanks to Cash Generator for sending me this DVD to try.

LIFESTYLE GET FIT IN STYLE

image from missguided

You've probably noticed lots of brands have brought out their own fashion activewear.  It's January and everyones starting their diets or back to healthy eating after cheating over Christmas.
I've never really been that bothered about what I wear to the gym because I go to a really little/quiet gym but after seeing all these gorgeous bits and pieces I think I may have to invest.

I think a statement legging/bottoms is a great way to brighten up your gym outfits. You can wear different tops and mix and match different tops with your bottoms.

I think getting compliments about your clothing at the gym would boost your self esteem and motivation levels.

I just wanted to show you a few of my favourite pieces! Have you got any other brands you would recommend for activewear? I heard Primark have their own range coming out and poundland?? So theres really no excuse now.

Do you know any fitness blogs or any good food blogs etc?

LIFESTYLE: WHAT I TAKE TO THE GYM

So a couple of weeks ago I joined back at the gym. I've been really motivated and lost some weight which i'm really happy about. I thought i'd show you a few bits and pieces that I bring along to the gym with me.

Clothes: I was kindly invited along to a New Balance event in London, which you can read about here. I was given the opportunity to personalise my own pair of New Balance trainers*. These are so comfy and perfect for the gym! I have a pair of Puma 3/4 length leggings, which are just Black and boring. I also have this grey racer back vest which is easy to wear, I also have this in a t-shirt.
My Panache sports bra is a recent purchase, I got it from Bravissimo, I went for a usual bra size and it's just so comfy! I love the colour and it gives a really nice shape under clothes. You can get £5 off all full price sports bras in Bravissimo throughout January. I love my Ipanema flip flops*, they are so comfy. I bring these to wear as I walk around the pool, you can read my review here.

Bags: Look at this amazing travel jewellery roll*, It's from Ted Baker and you can get it here from Flamingo Gifts it's such a clever idea, it keeps all your jewellery together and safe! My make up bag is also Ted Baker, it's such a good size and fits everything I need in. It's a waterproof material aswell so it's safe in my bag after i've been swimming. I love this backpack from Spiral * it's just so unique. They do different galaxy prints aswell as other patterns. The backs so spacious, making it perfect for the Gym! I can fit everything in, it has a pocket on the front and one inside for things like your phone. It also has a laptop compartment which I think is really handy!

Gadgets: I listen to music on my phone as I workout so I picked up one of these really handy arm strap things off Amazon. Its okay, I feel like it gets in the way of some workouts abit but its handy. I think it was like £2. I picked up one of these Polar heart monitor watches aswell this week, i've only used it once so far, so I will review it properly once i've used it a few more times but my first impressions are good! It's very handy and so accurate. It allows you to see if your working out properly and tells you how many calories your burning. I got mine here from Amazon.

Beauty Products: Obviously deodrant, I really don't get on with roll on so I always go for spray on. This week I'm using soft and gentle, i'm quite fussy with deodrant because I have sensitive skin but I find this works well. I also bring this Victoria Secret body spray/perfume called such a flirt, it smells amazing and i've actually had people ask me what spray i'm using because it's so nice. I also bring along my Victoria Secret body lotion, in Coconut Passion, which smells amazing, it rubs into the skin really easy and fast. I was given these Anovia products at a blog event, I haven't tried them out yet but i've popped them into my bag to try them out! I have this Elizabeth Arden Exfoliating cleanser to cleanse my skin and get all the dirt and makeup out of my pores. I also bring my Touch of Silver conditioner, it's one of my favourite conditioners and comes in this handy sized bottle.  Carmex, to keep my lips moisturised. This is so handy to just keep in the front pocket of my bag. I also bring along my Air Motion Pro HairBrush, its just so handy, it gets out knots so easily and works well with wet hair, you can read my review here.

*Some of these products have been sent to me for consideration. I have featured them in an honest way and have not been paid compensation to feature them.
