[AD-GIFTED] STAY HOME THIS SUMMER WITH FEMME LUXE


I think we can all agree that this summer is going to be a strange one! With us still being on lockdown and everywhere being closed it feels really strange, also the weather this week has been miserable and all I've wanted to do is curl up in comfy clothes and watch TV.

I've picked out some gorgeous loungewear sets from Femme Luxe which will be perfect to stay home this summer.

First up, this pink short sleeve lounge wear set is so comfy! I love the simple design, it's so soft and comfy and just perfect for summer as it short sleeved and thin. The leggings are a little cropped too, I love it.

Next up is this peach set, It has an off the shoulder design and the top is cropped. I like the cuffed leg design on the leggings. This set is super comfy and again nice and thin so perfect for the summer. The peach colour is really summery!

Finally is this lilac knitted set, again the off the shoulder style is so lovely. The jumper is baggy and super comfy. You can tuck it under if you prefer a cropped look. The material is super stretchy and so comfy. Even though this is knitted it's really lightweight so lovely for this in between weather we are having. I've been wearing it today, it's warm but raining so this is perfect.

FASHION: THE PERFECT INTERVIEW OUTFIT




It can be so stressful deciding what you are going to wear for an interview so it's a good idea to have an outfit ready should an interview present itself, they are often with short notice and come around quickly — leaving you with little time to decide what to wear! I am due to go back to work and considering a change in jobs so will have to go to some interviews and have no idea what to wear so CT shirts, retailers of menswear and suits, gives us some advice:  

Casual  
Casual dress is suitable when you’re interviewing for charity work or a casual unpaid internship. For these interviews, you might not be expected to dress formally, and will be more concerned with your personality, including your punctuality. Of course, it’s always good to make a positive first impression, so still consider what you’re wearing, ripped jeans or a stained top might not give off the best vibe. 

Women 
For women, you want to feel comfortable, skirts and jeans are appropriate in a casual interview . Make sure you look presentable, you should avoid mini-skirts with bare legs and ripped jeans. You could wear a smart dress with tights and a cardigan. Maybe a shirt and trousers?  
Since it’s likely to be a relaxed vibe, you shouldn’t worry too much about footwear. Opt for a smart ankle boot or flat pump, and perhaps avoid trainers and high heels.  I would feel comfortable in a ballet pump style. 

Men  
For men, it can be hard to dress casually without looking too underdressed. Jeans are definitely appropriate, but similar to our advice for women, steer clear of ripped jeans. No joggers or tracksuit tops, as these will not give off the best impression. A safe option would be a long-sleeved top, jeans, dress shoes such as Chelsea boots or brogues, and a smart jacket.  

Business casual 
Some interviews may specify business-casual attire on the invitation. This may be because they have this dress code in the office or it may be for an assessment day where you are expected to be there all day and recruiters want you to feel comfortable.  
If you dont know what to wear, it’s best to dress too formally rather than too casually to avoid giving off the wrong impression, if your wearing a smart jacket you could always take this off if you feel too overdressed once you are there. 

Women 
With a business-casual dress code, you have more freedom with what you wear than in a strictly professional interview. You could wear pinstripe or patterned trousers with a smart shirt tucked in.  
Or, wear a smart shirt with a wide collar underneath a long-sleeved jumper.  This look gives off a formal impression, whilst not as professional as a shirt and suit jacket.  I usually opt for a trousers and smart blouse combo! 

Men 
For men, to be appropriate for a business-casual dress code, you should wear a smart shirt. Why not invest in a non-iron shirt? It stays free of creases and there’s no need to rush around with the iron the morning before the interview! Also, if you’re travelling by car or public transport to the interview, a normal shirt can become creased but this is avoided through the non-iron garment.  
You should avoid a polo shirt, as this is too casual and still steer clear of wearing jeans.  

Professional 
For formal interviews, you should adopt a professional look. These interviews could be in front of directors of the company for a graduate job or an internship. You want to look your best here; your appearance certainly counts, and with the high level of competition at this stage, you don’t want to fall at any hurdles.  

Women  
In a professional situation, women should opt for a suit. When it comes to dressing the bottom half, go with what you feel comfortable in. If you decide to wear a skirt, wear one with a hemline just below the knee to avoid it rising and becoming too revealing. A suit doesn’t have to be boring — shop around and discover suits that are tailored in different ways — find one that suits your body shape. When it comes to footwear, heels are acceptable but make sure you can walk with confidence in them. If you don’t feel happy wearing heels, opt for pumps or shoes with a smaller heel.  

Men 
Men should wear a suit when it comes to a formal interview, too. Wear dark socks to blend in with your outfit and bring a briefcase to look professional. Brogues are a good choice of footwear — they are stylish and smart without being mundane. Choose a tailored suit that you feel represents your style, a slim leg may be best suited for you and your shape.  

What to avoid  
As we can see, the main thing to do is to make sure you feel comfortable in your outfit — it will show in the interview! However, there are a few things that you should avoid:  

 Too much make up or jewellery  
Too much aftershave or perfume - usually interviews are held in small rooms and this can be overpowering

FASHION: MENSWEAR PICKS SPRING 2018



I thought i'd show a few menswear picks for the spring. I love the Spring because it's warming up abit but we still get to wear jackets and jumpers. I think the sporty trend is going to overlap into the spring so I think sporty hoodies and jackets are going to be very popular. Why not try pairing a hoodie with a nice pair of jeans and a smart pair of pumps/ trainers.

I've picked out this lovely camel colour t-shirt from River Island, I like the little black detail on the chest and think this would look fab with a nice pair of jeans or tracksuit bottoms for a casual everyday look.

These Boohoo Men jeans are really smart but the washed out look makes them a little more casual so perfect for everyday but not too distressed. I think these are a good all rounder pair of jeans that could be worn with any of the tops / hoodies above

I love this grey long sleeved top from River Island, Clint really likes this too! I think its a great item. It's easy to dress up or down but looks great either way. I love grey right now, It's really on trend.

How amazing is this striped tshirt, it's from Boohoo. I think stripes always make an appearance in the spring and with a nice pair of ankle grazers and some cute pumps, it makes a very Parisian outfit.

As I mentioned before I think hoodies will be very popular this spring so here's a couple of my favourites. The Khaki one is from Boohoo and is very simple so ggreat for everyday and will go with anything. I love this LA hoodie from River Island, Clint actually picked this out as he loves things with American prints on. He's been wearing alot of hoodies right now with a nice pair of jeans and his Timberland boots.

LIFESTYLE: HOW TO SPOT GOOD QUALITY CLOTHING?


Today's post is going to take a look at how we can go about spotting quality clothing. I think its good to have a selection of quality pieces in your wardrobe and that it’s smart to spend a little bit extra and buy staple classic pieces that will last. If you go for materials that wash well and last longer otherwise you will just end up replacing these items every few months.

I've been taking a look in to what makes up a high quality garment and I believe these are the three most important things to look out for.

Fabric

Fabric is without a doubt the most important part of any piece of clothing. Regardless of the quality of the construction etc. if the fabric used is a cheap polyester blend or something which really isn't suited to the item, the whole piece will be let down. When looking for quality fabrics, you need to check the hand feel and to see if any treatments have been added to help with things like durability. If you pay a little more and go for organic cotton, you're guaranteeing that the fabric hasn't been harmed by pesticides.

Construction

When it comes to construction, handmade is always a great start because it means that someone has actually stitched the item themselves and with that comes a degree of pride. The first thing to take a look at is the stitching to see if there are any signs of unravelling, missed stitches, loose stitches, snags, crooked lines or other imperfections. After, you should try and lightly pull the fabric on either side of a seam just to check that it doesn't pull apart. Don't pull too hard of course!

Trim

It's no good buying an item that's been constructed beautifully from high quality fabrics if the trim like zips and buttons are going to degrade and even worse, fall off. The quality of the trim is just as important as the quality of the fabric. Plastic zippers are harder to zip up also, so always look out for metal zips and if possible, branded ones. You'd be surprised how much development companies like YKK put in to making their zips durable enough to stand the test of time. If you look out for high quality zips, you'll avoid a world of headaches.

I spoke to Rob Williams, a Director at Hawthorn, a clothing manufacturer based in London about what he believes is the most important thing to look out for. He said “from experience, the composition of a fabric plays a huge part in determining the quality of a piece. Lower quality brands tend to only think about their profit margins and will use fabrics like polyester blends where there is no need. On the other hand, those brands who really care about quality will go the extra mile to make sure that their products will stand the test of time. 100% natural fabrics are superior to man made fabrics generally, however there are some exceptions when it comes to speciality clothing like active wear.”

LIFESTYLE: WAYS TO STAY POSITIVE THIS YEAR


In today's post I want to talk about staying positive and ways in which I think you can stay positive and increase your productivity in 2018. I'm going to include a few products to help you stay organised and things you can do to make 2018 the best year yet!

First up it's the 18th of January so you should all have a brand new diary and calendar, if not you need to go and get one. I think writing down things really helps me stay productive and I like to tick things off and this keeps me on track. I also keep a note of any appointments etc, coffee with friends so i'm super productive and know what i'm doing from one day to the next. If I have a free day then I can use this for blogging and i'll usually write a list of blog posts I want to write or write a list of products I need to review so i've always got something to write about. I also use the calendar and notes on my phone but I find actually writing things in my diary and on my calendar works better for me. There's lots of lovely planners around like The Happiness Planner and these ones from Dot Creates and so if you work from home or like having a big diary I think they are great and have lots of sections to keep you organised. 

Next up why not invest in a new wardrobe, get yourself some nice new clothes that you will be proud to be seen in. If you work in an office get yourself a nice new jacket or suit. This will make you feel really confident, and ready to get that promotion this year. If you are self-employed even though you don't wear a uniform appearing clean and professional is a good way to get new commissions, work etc, even if you just invest in a new dress, pair of jeans or a new coat. 

Having a positive mental attitude is going to boost positivity and productivity this year. Why not join the gym or start going for a run, I find exercise a really good way of thinking and i've come up with some really good ideas whilst i've been out for a jog. Exercise can also help you sleep better which is another benefit and another way to boost your positive attitude. 
Start doing yoga, have a massage, go for a walk around a park, just take some time out for you. Personal well-being is very important and looking after yourself should be a priority this year.  

Healthy eating is another good way of staying positive, I always have a 'lets do this' attitude when i'm eating well. I'm always very motivated to do well. Sugary and fatty foods can make you feel sluggish and can leave you feeling tired and irritated.

FASHION: WHAT TO WEAR TO A SUMMER WEDDING?




Are you going to a wedding this summer? Don't know what to wear? I thought i'd put together this post and share a few of my favourite picks for a summer wedding guest.

I thought i'd feature a few bits for him as well as her as I have quite a few male readers.

I'm going to start with my for her picks! I love this orange floral dress from Asos! It's really pretty and on trend right now. It has short sleeves so perfect for those of you who don't like your arms, no need to worry about a cardigan or cover up. The length is really good, it's a midi length which suits alot of people. I'm short and find midi length works really well for me, the frill on the bottom of the dress is really on trend right now too! I think florals are perfect for summer weddings! If you are not brave enough to pull off the bright orange then a pastel floral pattern will work just as well!

I really like nude accessories right now and with the dress i've picked being very bright I think any more colour would be to much! This River Island Bag is perfect, it's white so super easy to wear! It's a decent size so you can fit your make up, phone and purse in. I would team with these nude heels! Very simple but effective again perfect with the bright dress!

For jewellery and accessories again I would keep it simple, I think rose gold would be perfect for that bronzed summer vibe! Just some tiny hoops/ stud earrings and a pretty bracelet is all you need.

I'm really feeling a bronzed goddess vibe so for make up keep it natural, use the Nip + Fab highlight palette. The middle bronzer is perfect and creates a gorgeous summer glow! The middle highlighter is gorgeous and leaves your skin glowy and fresh! I think the Urban Decay Heat palette would be perfect to create a bronzed smokey look to finish off the whole look!

First up for him you need to get your suit sorted first, Suitsmen have a huge range of suits perfect for any occasion, including a range of mens machine washable suits. This suit would be perfect for everyday or a wedding. It's good to go with something simple that you can wear again and again. You can accessorize using a tie and matching handkerchief. Why not match your partner and add the colour of her dress to your tie?

For men shoes are a big deal, again you want to keep them simple. Go for something sturdy and good quality that you can wear again. These shoes are really on trend but look like they are of a good quality. They look smart perfect for any occasion, especially a summer wedding.

Accessorize your look with cuff-links, waist coats and a fancy watch!
