BEAUTY: BEAUTY TRENDS FOR SUMMER 2017

With summer fast approaching I thought i'd share some of the latest beauty trends which are set to make an appearance this season. These tips and trends will ensure you are summer ready!
Ellisons, a supplier to the professionals sent over an Ebook full of the latest trends and helpful tips to prepare us for summer so I thought i'd pick out a few of my favourite trends and tips to share as well as some of my own tips and tricks.

Make-Up Looks

Glossed Lips! Last year it was all about the Matte lip but this year glossy lips are making a come-back! I loved the matte lip trend so i'm not sure i'll be embracing the glossed lip this summer.

Smudged Eyeliner! - I didn't realise this was optional during summer! My eyeliner is always melting and sliding off my face!! Use a smokey kohl pencil to create this look!

Dewy Skin- Use cream blushers and highlighters to create a dewy finish. Opt for a satin finish foundation rather than a matte finish for that gorgeous glow.

Skincare trends!

Sheet Masks are trending already this year and are set to be huge! With them available on the high street or at your favourite counters at the department stores they are easy to get hold of. They are so easy to use and you don't need to sit peeling it off! Provide everything your skin needs so no need for expensive spa facials.

Dry Brushing is a technique that can be used all over the body to exfoliate and cleanse the body and leave that fresh glow.

Brows! Microblading is the newest brow trend to hit the beauty world. Microblading achieves a long-lasting more permanent option. Microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under the skin for fuller brows. The technician draws on hair like lines for a fuller and realistic finish.

Healthy Hair tips and tricks!

Over washing your hair can lead to striping your hair of it's natural oils leave hair dry. Wash your hair two/ three times a week. I use dry shampoo if my hair is looking a little bit greasy! I've found this makes my hair a lot healthier looking!

Avoid the heat! Try and avoid using heat tools! If like me your hair is just a frizzy mess and you have to use heat tools then here's a couple of ways to reduce the use. I only wash my hair two or three times a week, this minimizes how many times a week I blow dry my hair. If I have time the next day to style my hair I will let my hair dry naturally over night. Just use hair products to minimize the frizz. Put your hair up, sometimes I wear my hair half up and half down and only straighten the bits I leave down.

What are your summer must haves? Will you be giving any of the latest beauty trends a try this summer?

BEAUTY: GETTING HOLIDAY READY

LESS THAN A WEEK TILL IBIZA!  I'm off to Ibiza on monday so I've started getting in the holiday mood. I've started my packing and got my nails and hair booked in for later this week.
I thought i'd share a few products I will be using to get holiday ready this week before we depart for sunny Ibiza.

For the last few months i've been back on my healthy(ish) eating and trying to get down to the gym as much as possible. I've been quite ill this month so I haven't been working out as much as I wanted to but I really didn't want to make myself worse. I've been following my Charlotte's 3 Minute Belly Blitz dvd* which is great as you can do it at home when you have some time, the dvd is split up into 12 3 minute workouts so you can do a couple if you don't have much time and want to fit a quick workout into your day. See my full review on Charlottes 3 Minute Belly Blitz here

I've got my hair booked in on friday, I should be having my roots touched up, I want them a little bit darker and then I want my hair to get much lighter into the ends. I have picked up a couple of these Loreal Feria Dip Dyes and might add some pink or purple into the ends just to make my hair abit fun. I really love having colour in my hair but i'm not aloud for work so I always tend to add some colour when i'm not working. I actually picked these up in the poundshop.

This Veet EasyWax Electrial Roll On Kit* is such an easy way to get long lasting results. Following the step by step guide is so simple, there's just 6 steps to get salon- wax results at home. The Veet wax system gives you long lasting results for up to 28 days meaning I shouldn't need to shave whilst i'm away. The kit is suitable for the bikini area aswell making it ideal for my holiday preparations. This EasyWax roll on kit is part of the Natural inspirations collection and is full of natural ingredients such as Shea Butter and Pine Tree resin, great to soothe and leave the skin feeling moisturised and soft. I will be using this properly later in the week and will do a full review on it when i'm back from Ibiza.

I have also included fake tan in my getting holiday ready.  I sometimes like to apply fake tan just for my first day so that I don't feel super pale. We get to Ibiza really early in the morning so the fake tan will just make me feel a little more confident in my bikini before I start to build up that tan. This Vita Liberata NKD skin matte wash off instant tan* is ideal for that first day glow and then you can just wash it off once you have started to get a natural colour.

I've been doing a Teatox by Slimming Solutions* for the last week, I should finish the course just before we go on holiday. I have really enjoyed the Teatox and will be reviewing it in full on my blog. As I said above I have been eating more healthy and excerising more so I have lost a few pounds over the last few weeks. I've noticed my skins felt clearer and my tummy is less bloated. The tea tastes lovely aswell, I really enjoyed having it every morning and every other night. I have another 14 day course which I will start again once i'm back to flush out all of the alcohol and naughty food i'll be eating in Ibiza.

Finally I have booked to get my hair and nails done. I love having my acrylics done before I go on holiday. Having nails makes me feel so nice and feminine. I can't really have nails at work because they just don't last, it such a waste so I love getting them done before I go on holiday. I've been using this Soap and Glory Heel Genius Foot Cream most nights to get my feet looking nice and soft ready for those sandals and flip flops. I'll buy a nice nail polish that will match my nails and paint my tootsies before we go too!

So thats it we are all ready and prepped for ibiza! Is there any must have products you get before you holiday or what rituals do you do before a trip away?

REVIEW: NAILBOX

Nailbox is a monthly subscription service. Each month they send out a selection of nail polishes which are a variety of brands and shades. They have a few different package selections so you can choose to pay monthly or you can choose to pay for 3,6 or 9 months.

The box I received included in my opinion a great selection of brands and shades. First up is one of the Rimmel 60 seconds polishes, in the shade Lucky Lilac, going from spring to summer makes lilac a perfect shade, its easy to apply and a great finish.

Next is Nicole by Opi in Alex by the Books which is a gorgeous mint shade again a perfect spring to summer colour. Opi are a really popular nail polish brand and they usually retail at £7.99 each so £15 a month for 4 polishes is a bargain already.

Next is an Essie polish in Status Symbol which is a lovely bright pink. A really versatile shade, a great colour for any collection. The essie polishes again are really popular and retail at about £6 or £7 each.

Finally the Orly Color Blast in fiery orange which is a gorgeous orange glitter shade. Orly is another popular nail polish brand and well know for their great quality. The glitter polish was easy to apply and looked great even after just one coat! I applied it onto a clean nail but I think you could apply it over another colour.

Overall i'm really impressed with the Nailbox subscription. For just £15* a month you get 4 great nail polishes that are worth well more than £15. They have put alot of thought into the brands and the shades they have picked which is great!

The next box is the July Box which is being despatched the 22nd July and is called Tropical Treats! You can subscribe here at www.Nailbox.co.uk

*this is a pr sample, my review is honest and truthful. I have not been paid for this post.

REVIEW: SEVENTEEN GEL COLOUR

SEVENTEEN GEL COLOUR - BOOTS - £3.99*
I've been meaning to review these for ages! I didn't use to wear nail polish because I worked in a restaurant and wasn't allowed, I work in retail now which means I get to paint my nails more often.

I love having gel nails done because they last for ages and are a lovely smooth finish however gels can work out expensive and tend to leave my nails abit worse for wear so I try to use nail polish in between having my gels done.

These Seventeen Gel colour polishes are great because they are really nice and easy to apply. The brush is lovely and the finish is nice and smooth. This polish tends to last a few days.

They come in so many colours and it's such an affordable product at only £3.99 ! Theres some gorgeous colours that would be perfect for the Autumn/ winter such as Mocha-tini and Backcurrant bomb.

EVENT: TOPSHOP BEAUTY AUTUMN/ WINTER LAUNCH

I went along to a lovely event yesterday at Topshop in the Bullring, it was a small event with only a few bloggers attending.

First of all we were introduced to the latest range called 'The Face'  which includes foundations, concealers and primers. I'm a big fan of Topshop packaging, it simple but effecting. I love the thin capital letters, ( i'm a font lover )

The foundation is a lovely light texture, it's silicone based which makes it a silk-like finish. It has skin tone  adapting qualities meaning there's a shade for everyone! The foundation has medium coverage but feels so lightweight. It leaves your skin looking luminous but comfortable and not cakey. At only £16 I can see this being a new day to day fave!

The concealer comes in two shades but again has skin tone adapting qualities so it will work for most skin tones. The dark shade is more for skin with yellow undertones and then the light for pink undertones. I've gone for the darker shade as I felt the light was a little too light. The coverage is amazing! Again it's silicone based so will blend easily into the skin.

The concealer palette is on my wish list this month! There's a colour corrector for blemishes, two shades so you can mix together the perfect shade and a setting powder. Thats four products for £12, such a bargain. It's a lovely sleek palette, perfect for your handbag, making it easy to fix your makeup throughout the day.

The Airbrush Primer is gorgeous, it blurs imperfections and erases the appearance of pores and fine lines. The silicone base makes it easy to apply and to blur out those imperfections. I have to say it feels very similar to higher end primers i've used. There's also a colour correcting primer which has a green tone to neutralize any blemishes and redness. Whilst your wearing the primer the anti-inflammatory qualities banish redness and the oil absorbing powders mattify and tighten pores.

Next up the NEW SEASON COLOUR COLLECTION, omg it's beautiful. Such a gorgeous range. The idea is there's a nail polish and blush to match each lip polish.

The Lip Polishes are available in a range of colours, my favourite is Twin, which is a gorgeous red/ purple berry shade. It's perfect for this season, the finish is glossy and gel-like. They appear very moisturing on the lips. I've heard good things about Topshop lipsticks in the past and I am very excited to buy one of these.

Next up a very interesting product, Cheek Jelly. It looks like a lip balm and kind of feels like a lip balm but it's for your cheeks. It's a gel like product that you apply to your face. It's creates a natural finish and is buildable so you can build up the colour. I love my blushers and I don't think this is really for me as I like a bright pop of colour on my cheeks rather than a more natural finish however for work and day to day wear this is really nice. You can apply this product to the lips or other areas of the face if you want to create a rosy look or add some colour to your face.

I've tried Topshop nail polishes before and i'm a fan, They are decent quality, cheap and they come in 49274246247 different colours!! They have some gorgeous new colours this season. I'm loving the gel effect! I love the colours. They are all fab and perfect for this season. I'm exciting to see what people think of these, still a bargain at £6!

REVIEW : HC LUXSPA IN SELFRIDGES

I was so excited when HC LuxSpa popped up in Selfridges, it looks lush and they do amazing gel nails and hand treatments. I was stalking them for a a while on twitter and instagram and knew I needed to visit. So when they contacted me about going in I jumped at the chance!

I wasn't really sure what treatment to have so the lovely Lauren said she would show me a bit of everything which sounded perfect!

So first I picked which colour I was going to have, there's so many different ones to choose from. The Morgan Taylor polishes that they use look like really good quality and like I say come in such a variety of colours, the bottle is a really generous size aswell. I decided to go for Posh which Lauren said was quite a popular colour at the moment. It matches my Thomas Sabo Bracelet and my Olivia Burton watch perfectly.

Then Lauren prepped my nails, filed sorted out my cuticles. She soaked my nails in the salt of the earth AROMASALT which smells amazing. They are the only place in the UK to use salt of the earth products in their manicures. She used an amazing tool for my cuticles and I have to say this is so good, I could actually see the cuticles being removed, i've never had this done before during a manicure. She then exfoliated my hands and also gave me an amazing hand massage.  This is all included in the express manicure aswell but its just a quick massage however they still spend time on you're cuticles. So still well worth the money if your in a hurry,

Next was the IBX treatment - This month (October 2014) you can get a free IBX treatment on top of any gel polish manicure. I would totally recommend it, I think my nails felt stronger as soon as she put it on. It's supposed to strengthen the nails and make them grow. It also gives a better finish to your gel nails. It's normally only £10 on top of a treatment. She applied 3 coats of this so again well worth the money!

Next was the gel colour, I chose Posh which was this gorgeous natural pinky/mink shade. It's just gorgeous! I've had so many compliments about the colour. I was so happy with the finish. My nails look very clean and I just love the colour so much. I was very happy with my treatment and I am actually obsessed, I can't wait to go back. I can honestly say I will be going back regularly for my nails, I normally have gels anyway and would rather go to HC LuxSpa and have this lovely service and quality finish.

To have an express manicure and gel polish finish it would cost £25 + an extra £10 for IBX treatment. I normally pay about £25 and get no where near this standard of finish so would much rather return to HC LuxSpa in the future.

Here's the link to book an appointment - http://www.hcluxspa.com/

*I was invited to have a complimentary treatment by HC LuxSpa however the review above is the truth and my own opinions.

GUEST POST | Erin's Top 5 Mint Polishes

Getting Minted
Mint green is one of my favourite nail colours for spring and summer, not too bright, and surprisingly flattering. Considering this, it’s not a surprise that being the nail polish addict that I am, I have amassed quite a collection of mint polishes, here I’m going to run you through 5 of my favourite and most used ones, so lets get going!

Maybelline ‘Mint For Life’
The cheapest contender here, and the longest lasting too! This is a very clean and classic mint shade and the closest dupe that I have found for my long standing favourite, Essie ‘Mint Candy Apple’, having said that I actually prefer the formula of Maybelline’s offering because it is so long lasting.  The brush is nice and wide which makes it easy to get an even finish, I used 2 coats for a smooth and opaque finish.

Nicole by OPI ‘Hint Of Mint’
This polish definitely has the strongest green undertone of the 5 that I’m looking at. In the bottle this polish has a bit of a pearlescence to it which almost made me not purchase it because I think that pearly nail polishes can look really dated but it doesn’t look pearly on the nails at all. The formula isn’t fantastic, it is a very sheer polish and 3 coats for opacity. Nice colour though, and a little bit different which is always nice.

Butter London ‘Fiver’
Despite the formula not quite being there (in my opinion) this is probably my favourite mint polish. It’s a little lighter and more blue toned than the other ones that I own, which I find to be more versatile and more flattering on my skin tone. Like I said, the formula is not the best, it does require 3 thin coats for opacity and the first 2 coats do tend to be a little streaky, but if you have the time and patience, you can get a really beautiful effect in a really lovely, flattering colour.

 China Glaze ‘For Audrey’
This is probably the darkest polish of the 5 that I’m talking about, because to be honest if it was any darker, it probably just would be teal. Where the other polishes are mainly minty blues and very pastel-y with lots of white in them, this one is more of a mix between a mint green and turquoise. This is really flattering with a tan as well, so pretty. 2 coats for full opacity, the formula is a little on the thicker side but its not hard to work with.

Essie ‘Mint Candy Apple’
Last, but most certainly not least, is Essie’s ‘Mint Candy Apple’. It’s the classic mint green polish and really the first one that I owned, so I definitely blame this one for my obsession! This is definitely one of the first polishes that I reach for when spring rolls around, and I wear it all the way through summer too because it looks amazing with a tan. I used to have the version with the normal brush and application was pretty tricky with that, but I loved the colour so much that I purchased the diffusion line version and the thicker brush simplifies application so much, 2 coats and you’re good to go.

So there we have it, do you have any mint favourites that you think I should take a look at?
