We are hoping to buy our own place in the next few years, at the moment we are renting so I am restricted when it comes to decorating so I tend to buy new accessories to refresh our home.
I'm always looking for ideas and inspiration for our future home and I thought i'd share a few products and ideas I have for our living room. I actually really want to buy a few new bits and pieces for our current living room to brighten the place up a little.
Right now alot of our accessories are black and white as the sofa is black, when we buy our own sofa I want to go for a grey sofa and will most likely have alot of grey accessories. I think grey is really classy and clean. Right now I plan on buying some grey cushions and maybe a grey rug to incorporate it into our current living room and then we can bring these items with us when we move. By using accessories to add colour to a room it makes it really easy to change a colour theme and is more affordable than replacing all of your furniture.
I'm loving window shutters right now and think they look so clean and stylish, much nicer than fabric blinds. Thomas Sanderson stock window shutters for any window, I think these Bay Window shutters look so nice, I like traditional bay windows and think the shutters make them look gorgeous.
I really want to buy some new furniture and accessories, alot of our furniture is quite cheap, it's pretty much all from Ikea and i'd like to add some new pieces to our living room. This nest of tables would be perfect, they are white with a little wooden top and would look fab in our living room. We have a coffee table right now but I think I'm going to get rid of this to make more room.
I'm on the lookout for some nice new bits like a new lamp and some new cushions and a throw. I want to make our living room look cleaner and more modern. We have a lot of black and white and patterns going on and I think I want the room to look more grown up with crisp clean furniture and accessories.
I'm always looking out for new bits and accessories to refresh my home and always looking for new stylish ways to keep my home looking trendy, clean and new.

INTERIORS: HOW TO GET YOUR HOME LOOKING SUMMER READY?
15 June 2017
Images taken from Pinterest
With summer fast approaching it's the perfect time to make some changes to your home, freshen it up and get summer ready! Today I thought i'd share a few ways to get your home looking summer ready.
There are lots of affordable ways in which you can get your home looking summer ready.
Using flowers and plants - adding a pop of colour using plants and flowers is a really easy and affordable way to make your home summery. I always have flowers in the flat. We also have a selection of plants, too add lots of colour to the flat.
Accessories - Use accessories like candles, cushions and prints to add colour to a room. This is an easy to way to revamp a room without spending lots of money. I'm loving all the botanical prints that are around right now!
Mirrors - A big mirror will add more space to a room aswell as lots more light! A bigger and brighter space will instantly look lighter and more summery.
Open all the windows and doors - I like to let lots of fresh air in and have a good clean this makes a room feel all new and fresh and perfect for the new season.
Colour - Use colours to create a summery room. We have white walls so I prefer to add colour using accessories and furniture. You could use wallpaper or paint to create a feature wall that screams summer.

LIFESTYLE: GETTING THE FLAT READY FOR WHEN BABY ARRIVES
15 May 2017
With a baby on the way we are going to be making some changes to our home to make way for the baby and all their things. We live in a two bedroom apartment (top floor, no lift -not ideal during pregnancy haha) We have a living room, kitchen , main bathroom and en-suite. The second bedroom is of a decent size but we have built in ikea wardrobes which will be fine for now, and we will fit a cot in there but we won't fit a bed in there so will need to move house by the time baby is in a proper bed.
Over the next couple of months we plan to get rid of any old bits and pieces that we don't need so we can optimise the space we have. We are going to do a carboot sale and i'll be selling bits online, we can make a little bit of money and make room for all the baby bits. We have already started planning how we will turn the spare room into a baby room, we will keep the wardrobes as this is where all of our clothes are and we don't really have room for wardrobes, we have bought extra rails and shelving to go in the wardrobe and will be organising it so there will be plenty of room for all the babies clothes and bits.
In our bedroom we will have a little move around, so we can fit a co-sleeper next to our bed. We will have the baby in our room for the first 6 months. We currently have our bed in the middle of the room so we may have to move this more over towards the window so theres plenty of room.
We have planned to decorate the whole flat over the next few months, baby isn't due till November but if we paint during the summer we can have the windows and balcony doors open to ventilate. Our flat is big and it would take a good few days to get it all painted so we've been looking at getting it done professionally. I'd rather somebody who knows what they are doing come in and do the job. We have been looking for a Birmingham interior painter on Bidvine which is a website where you can search and hire trusted local service professionals. You just search your area and type in whatever service you need and it gives you a list of all the professionals in your area. You can read their reviews from others, see work they have done and how many times they've been hired via the Bidvine site.
We want to give the whole apartment a fresh lick of paint and tidy up. We will give it a good clean before the baby arrives so it's all ready and fresh. There's no really big jobs that need doing, I think once it's been painted it will look brand new and will make a huge difference. The only other job i've been thinking about getting done would be to get our carpets cleaned so I might have a look on Bidvine for someone to come along and do that too!
I know that the next few months are going to fly by as we have alot of organising and planning to do before the baby arrives in November which is why i'm getting started now and plan to have the flat ready throughout the summer incase baby makes an early appearance.

LIFESTYLE: TIPS FOR FIRST TIME RENTERS
5 January 2017
Can you believe we've had our own flat for over a year now! It's gone so fast and it's been so good.
Today I thought i'd share a few tips for first time renters for when you move into your property as sometimes it's hard knowing what you need to do.
1. Moving Day can be very stressful so being organised will help so much, when packing you want to have boxes for each room which I know sounds obvious but we had a few random boxes and these sat in the spare room for a while as we needed to sort them whereas the kitchen stuff and living room stuff all went away straightaway because it was in it's own box. We had the kitchen stuff in the car with us when we went to pick the keys up so we could make a cup of tea for people helping us move. We also brought the bed first as even if the flat was full of boxes at least we could sleep in our bed.
2. Cleaning the flat before you bring all your boxes and rubbish in makes it easier so we just brought the bed and a few kitchen bits and the vacuum with us and got the flat nice and clean before we started bringing boxes in.
3. Write up an inventory, our flat is part furnished so there's a few bits that were left here so we wrote up these things so when we move out we can make sure these are back where they belong. For example the sofa had cushions left on it but I had already brought cushions so i've popped the cushions into our airing cupboard but when I go through the inventory I will know they belong here.
4. Get a spare set of keys cut, we have the original set in the flat and both have a set of keys, we could do with getting a replacement key set cut incase either of us ever loose ours. Also make sure that the your lock system is secure and in working order, check out https://www.fastkeys.co.uk/ for a huge selection of locks and a fast key cutting service.
5.Take photos of damage or marks etc. On the first day when the flat is still empty you want to go round with your camera and a note pad and list any marks and take photos so if there is any issues when your moving out you have proof that these were already there. In our flat theres a mark in the spare room on the carpet and theres a broken leg in one of the kitchen cupboards but we have photos of these
These are just a few little tips if your about to move into your first rented property.

LIFESTYLE: HOW TO SAVE WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PLACE
18 October 2016
Can you believe it's nearly been a year since Clint and myself got our own place. I thought i'd put together a few tips and tricks to saving some money when you live by yourself.
Organisation -
Organisation -
This may seem like common sense but just planning what you are going to spend your money on will save you money in the long term. There's lot of bills and dates to remember when you have your own place so writing a list of your bills and when they come out of your account can make things easier. We have a joint account and our bills come out of this account which I find works best, we both transfer money in when we get paid to cover the bills.
Saving -
Get loyalty cards etc, our Tesco clubcard saves us so much money, we tend to do most of our shopping at tesco and Clint occasionally gets fuel from there so our points add up and we get vouchers in the post, a few weeks ago we got £8 off our shopping and last week they sent out vouchers that give you £3/£4 off for the next 6 weeks if you spend over £30 so we can make great savings on our general food shop.
I also have a boots card which I have over £25 worth of points to spend, I sometimes use this when money is a little tight and I need essentials or need to get my eyebrows done etc. Also use apps like Vouchercloud and Vouchercodes to find the vouchers, if your shopping or going out for food etc theres tons of vouchers which can save you money! Check out moneysupermarket too for great tips for saving money using vouchers.
Gratisfaction UK is also a really good website to use. They have a huge selection of freebies which you can easily sign up for. You can get loads from samples of beauty and skincare products or free tickets to events, they update the site all the time so there's always new things to put your name down for. They also have a voucher codes section so you can check these out and save money when your shopping. There's no need to sign up and anyone can check them out to get loads of free stuff!
Meal planning is a really good way to save money. If your always throwing food out then your basically throwing money away. Sit down for a few hours and plan your week. Now i'm doing slimming world I find I do this anyway but it's great to get an idea of what you need to buy when your shopping , write a list so you don't pick up things you don't need just because they are on offer for a pound! This way you reduce the amount of food you throw away and have more time to chill because you can prep and already know what your eating so no need to spend ages deciding what to have. Do you have any tips for saving money? What else works when your trying to save those pennies?

LIFESTYLE: HOW TO BUDGET WHEN LIVING ON YOUR OWN
17 March 2016
I'm no expert or lifestyle guru but I thought i'd share a few ways that I budget now that I live in my own place with Clint. Neither of us have lived alone before so it was all very new and we really wasn't sure if we could afford it or not.
The main thing is to be organised when you first move in you have to sort out things like reading meters and phoning the providers, council tv licence people etc so i'd put aside a few hours to sit on the phone or computer to do this. I'd right a list with the telephone numbers and your readings first before you phone up.
Once you've sorted all that out you should have a rough idea of how much your bills are going to cost, if you've been living on your own for a little while you will already know how much your bills are. It's worth writing this figure down and remembering it, so then you know how much you need to have in your bank to cover the bills.
Most of our bills come out on the first of the month which if you get paid at the end of the month like me this makes the most sense. I set up a joint account and used this for all of the bills to come out of. This way we both transfer enough money into this account and have our own bills still in our personal accounts and then any left over money is our own. We tend to take it in turns with food shopping and going out for meals and share the cost of these things.
It's good to plan your month financially so if you know you've got a birthday coming up or your cars due an MOT next month then it's worth putting a little a side for that so I'd recommend saving a month or so in advance that way you've got some money put aside for if you need it and if you don't it's up to you, put it towards your bills and have a little extra money that month or spend it, go on a day out or a nice meal. Any extra money that I put aside i'd save a put towards a holiday.
Saving Money
There's always ways you can save money, when we moved we both cancelled our gym memberships and Clint got rid of his sky package at his parents house. This saved us about £140 a month! Although I really want to join the gym again I have found ways to work out but without it costing any money, I walk to work now which is a good 20 minutes there then 20 minutes back. I have a few fitness dvds and we got a Kinect for the Xbox which you can work out with. I'm still burning the same amount of calories I did at the gym but it's not costing me £35 a month. I would love to save up and go back but at the moment I can't really afford it.
I want to have a good sort out and ebay some things. Ebay or a carboot is a great way to make a little extra cash. If you know there's a new beauty release coming up and you won't be able to afford it you could sell a few things you don't use. I have a wardrobe full of things I don't wear and you can use that money for things you would use. I'd recommend keeping money in your paypal account aswell. I find I save money better when I keep it in my Paypal and then if I do want to buy something I use the money straight from my Paypal so it doesn't come out of my own money in my bank.
Going out? We didn't really go out much before but we did eat out loads, I love staying in and eating home cooked food. We still go out here and there but it's lovely to get home from work, cook dinner and chill. We easily spent £100+ a week on eating out, that pretty much covers our food shopping for two weeks!
I hope you enjoyed this, as I said i'm no money saving guru but we have managed to live on our own for nearly 5 months now and i'm loving it. I never thought i'd be able to afford to live alone but we are and I still have a little bit of money left over each month to take a trip to Primark or go out for a Pizza Express!

OUR FLAT TOUR
28 November 2015
Myself and Clint moved into our very own flat just over a week ago! We've unpacked and were all settled in so I thought i'd share a little flat tour with you. I haven't gone into massive detail but just thought i'd share some of my favourite areas and favourite bits and pieces with you.
The kitchen - our kitchen is small but it's perfect for me and Clint. There's a good amount of space and plenty of cupboard storage. I thought i'd share my gorgeous tea caddies from Next, you can write whatever you like on them using the chalk! I love them and I love my rose gold/ copper kettle and toaster which are also from Next.
The Living Room - This is where we spend most of our time. we have plain black sofas, these were here already which meant we didn't have to go out and buy a new sofa. I've added the blanket and cushion to make it more to my taste.
We got the Tv Unit from Ikea and the footstall from Homesense.
I love these prints, the first one is from Etsy, the second from Ella Masters and third from Milly Jackson
This unit is from Ikea. The lamp is from Homesense, the frame is Umbra from Red Candy , the basket is from Tiger and the candles inside H&M Home
This is my spare room/ dressing room / Office space. In here there are big sliding fitted wardrobes and my big mirror. I have this Malm chest of drawers for more clothes and my desk where I do my blogging. I love the print on my desk by DotCreates.com
My Bathroom- We actually have this main bathroom and an En suite. I love the flooring, this is in the En suite also. I like the little bits of blue/ mint i've added. I haven't had a bath yet but will nip into Lush this week to get myself some Christmas goodies and have a nice relaxing bath. The wooden thing across the bath is from Ikea, i'm gonna bring a cuppa tea in the bath and maybe bring my ipad in and watch youtube videos.
The Bedroom. I got this gorgeous bed from Ikea, it was only £80 and it's so sturdy and such a great bed. We also got our Mattress from Ikea. I got a new dressing table which is also from Ikea but I bought it off Gumtree. My bedding is from Asda. I really need a new duvet as mine isn't big enough, my old bed was smaller than a double. My lights on my bed are also from ikea.
* this blog post does contain some pr samples, the above blog post is my own honest opinions and thoughts.
LIFESTYLE: BATHROOM IDEAS
6 November 2015
all images from pinterest
So it's official we've got a moving date and are officially moving out! I'm starting to get really excited about moving in and having our new flat. I can't wait to get our stuff in and to have our very own place. It's so so exciting. As we are renting we can't really do much renovating but moving and decorating is a huge step when getting your own place and its something that takes alot of time, money and planning.
I've been thinking alot about when we finally buy our own house and have to renovate it, my parents only bought my house about 5 years ago and I remember all the work they had to do and I remember the kitchen and bathroom being so so stressful. I think its good to research and get an idea of things you need to buy and things you need to be prepared for. In our bathroom we had to literally rip everything out and start again, We fitted a brand new suite and had the walls and floors tiled. You wouldn't believe its the same bathroom! I love looking at pinterest and looking at dream bathrooms! I'd love marble walls, you can actually get marble bathroom wall panels which is amazing and then i'd get some really nice clean walls and all white bath suite. I'd love some really big slate tiles for my flooring and then some nice clean white gloss ceiling cladding which would reflect the light and make the room look huge.
I love looking on Pinterest to get home ideas, sometimes theres some really gorgeous ideas that you can try and recreate yourself.

LIFESTYLE: HOME WISHLIST
6 August 2015
BED FRAME: IKEA // DESK : IKEA // CUSHIONS : H&M // CANDLE HOLDER: H&M // MATTRESS: MATTRESS NEXT DAY
So myself and Clint have been looking at apartments to rent, we've been together for two years and he basically lives at my house with me and my parents. I'm not too sure what my next career decision is going to be but because I want to go back to university and finish my teacher training i'm not really in a situation where I can be sure what money i'm going to be picking up.
I have however been looking at lots of apartments and houses and obviously looking at furniture as this would be our first home and would need to buy everything. I love this bed from Ikea, I've had my eye on it for awhile, I really want a white bed frame, my current bed is a brown leather frame which i'm not very keen on. My bed is quite uncomfortable aswell, so I think i'd need to invest in a new mattress aswell, i've spotted a few decent ones on Mattress Next Day, including this Silent Night one which is only £139.99 for a double which I think is really reasonable, I always thought Mattresses were really expensive. I always get my bedding from Ikea and Asda, but h&m have some really lovely things right now aswell. I love these cushions from h&m, I have so many cushions so I doubt I need anymore but I love this cat one in particular. I really want a new desk for blogging aswell, in my house right now we have a spare room so i've been thinking about clearing it out and making an office for myself. I could then bring the desk to our new place if we had room for an office or I could use it as my dressing table as my current one is getting abit old.

REVIEW: GORDON CASTLE THE ORANGERY
10 June 2015
I love candles I have so many in my collection! I love this new addition from Gordon Castle. The packaging is just so sleek and modern and very simplistic. It fits in really well in my room.
This candle is called The Orangery and from the name you could have guessed its an orange scented candle. The scent is strong but not overwhelming, its quite a nice subtle scent. I think the orange scent is a really nice friendly fragrance, and leaves the room smelling clean. The candle retails at £24* which I think is reasonable for a luxury candle. The box it comes in is quite nice aswell so it would make a nice gift for someone.
The Gordon Castle candles come in a range of scents including Herb Garden and Flower Garden. Gordon Castle also sell a range of other products including body wash and bath oils.
