BEAUTY: CLOUD CLOTH REVIEW

Cloud Cloth - £8 for pack of 3 *

I have been using the Cloud Cloths for a couple of weeks now and wanted to give them a mention on my blog.

I have always used the Liz Earle Muslin Cloths as I use the Hot Cloth Cleanser most of the time and i've never really had any issues with them or any need to try something new.

When I heard about Cloud Cloth they sounded dreamy but I wasn't sure that I would be that impressed with them, I mean they are just a face cloth right?

WRONG! they are amazing. One side is like a muslin cloth, it exfoliates and scrubs away dead cells, the other side is super soft and gentle. It's perfect for sensitive skin, and sensitive areas like around the eyes.

I've been using the DHC cleansing oil to melt away my make up and following up with the Kiehls Centella Skin-Calming facial cleanser. I use the soft side first to remove my eye make-up and then use the other side to remove my cleanser and this scrubs away any dead cells and exfoliates the skin.
It leaves the skin feeling beautifully clean and soft.

I'm using the Kiehls Midnight Recovery concentrate and Vichy night moisturiser  for my nighttime routine right now. My skins feeling really good right now, very hydrated and smooth.

I'm really happy with the Cloud Cloths, you can chuck them in the wash so they last really well. You get a pack of 3 for £8 which I think is very reasonable and I will be buying more once mine give up.

PARENTING: HELPING TO KEEP YOUR BABIES SKIN HEALTHY

Babies have especially delicate skin, so it’s both important and beneficial to look after it where you can. Healthy, smooth, soft skin can help keep your baby happy and comfortable throughout the day. So, with that in mind, here are some ways that you can help to keep your baby’s skin healthy.

Reducing the risk of rashes

The right clothing can be a great way to help keep a baby comfortable while also helping to avoid the risk of any rashes developing through skin irritation.

For example, if you’re looking for clothes that fasten closed, either with zips or buttons, try to find styles that have a layer of fabric between the fasteners and your baby’s skin, so there’s nothing digging into them while they move around.

Look for clothing that’s made from 100% cotton, which can help reduce friction on the skin while your baby moves about through the day. Consider looking for organic cotton, which will have been farmed without the use of potentially harmful chemicals and fertiliser, making it easier on skin, as well as more environmentally friendly.

Providing relief for nappy rashes and other issues.

Nappy rash is also something you should be aware of. This can develop for quite a few reasons, from a nappy chafing the skin, to being unable to change a nappy, such as overnight or during a long journey.

If it does develop, gently clean your skin with perfume-less soap and baby wipes, before gently patting to fully dry the area. Applying a product like Chemist-4-U Dermacort Cream before putting a new nappy on can also to create a protective barrier for the skin to help stop further irritation or rashes developing.

Things like insect bites, nettle stings and friction burns can be harder to prevent, though. These can cause a lot of pain, irritation and inflammation to a baby’s delicate skin. Quickly applying a medicinal cream to the affected areas can help these small injuries heal quicker, while also helping to reduce any pain and discomfort, meaning your baby can be back to their happy self before you know it.

Keeping covered through the seasons

The highs and lows of the year bring very different kinds of temperatures and weather to deal with, so it’s useful to stay prepared when it comes to looking after your baby’s skin.

In the summer and early autumn, where temperatures are higher and the sun is shining, it’s nice to get out in the fresh air and play around. While out, make sure to protect their skin by applying a fairly high SPF sun cream, especially if your child has particularly pale skin. This will help prevent sunburn, which can be particularly painful for a baby’s delicate skin.

In the winter, babies are at particular risk because they aren’t able to regulate their body temperature as well as adults. They also lose body heat a lot quicker when exposed to the cold. Making sure they’re wrapped up warm when they’re outside can help avoid frostbite.  You should also provide lots of water, so that they don’t lose too much moisture while out in the cold. Keeping advice like this in mind can help keep your baby happy and healthy long-term.

BEAUTY: URBAN DECAY ALL NIGHTER FOUNDATION REVIEW

I've been using the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation for a while now, I've actually just repurchased it and realised that i'd never reviewed it on my blog. So I thought i'd share my thoughts with you and finally review it.

I have it in shade 2 which is a light shade, I was actually matched up a while ago but am still happy with this shade. It's a natural shade and I can easily use bronzer to add abit of colour. They have 24 shades to choose from

The packaging is gorgeous and I like that it has a pump and lid as you can easily throw it in your make up bag and you don't need to worry about accidents happening. The pump gives you a good amount of product, I find that one pump pretty much does my whole face. I tend to go for a natural coverage but I know my sister uses a few more pumps and builds up a fuller coverage. I use a buffing brush or sometimes a stippling brush to apply and I love the natural finish this gives. It's really easy to build up and if i'm having a bad skin day or going out I'll put a little more on for a fuller coverage.

The product blends really well and looks so natural. It's not cakey at all and doesn't sit on the skin. It sinks in well and leaves the skin looking flawless. I have quite dry skin with some combination areas and I find this works really well for me. It doesn't go patchy at all. It's so easy to apply and work into the skin. I use this along side my Collection lasting perfection concealer and it's the perfect base. It dries into the skin very fast and then i'll usually apply a setting powder and my contour for everyday.

As I mentioned above I've just repurchased this foundation and I don't do that very often.I quite like trying out different brands and foundations but I found this ticked all of the boxes and is a really good everyday foundation. I find it really easy to apply and it always looks good. I have had so many reviews about looking radiant and healthy since i've started using this foundation.

It's £29 for the bottle which I think is really reasonable and is much cheaper that foundations I was using before and the pump is already attached so you don't have to spend extra money buying this. I've used the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray before and really like this for nights out, i'd love to try out a few more bits and see what I think.

I have seen mixed reviews on this foundation so it's worth checking out a few reviews. As I mentioned above I have dry skin and I find it doesn't cling to any dry patches but I've seen reviews saying people don't get on well with it. Maybe try a sample first and see how your skin reacts. I took a risk and just picked it up in store and I love it.

BEAUTY: BURTS BEES MAMA BEE NOURISHING BODY OIL REVIEW

I never expected for my skin to change so much during pregnancy but it has actually gone really dry. Dry skin was one of the first things I noticed during early pregnancy. My scalp and hands went so dry, I couldn't believe that this tiny little thing inside me was causing so many changes to my body.

I've been keeping my skin well moisturised throughout the pregnancy. I've been using a few different products but today i'm talking about the Burts Bees Mama Bee body oil.

I've been using the oil since very early on in the pregnancy. I've been loving this and their Leg and Foot cream ( which is amazing!! ) The oil smells incredible, it's a lemony smell which I love, however I get a craving for Lemon Drizzle cake everytime I use it.

I've only just started to get a few stretch marks and i'm now 38 weeks pregnant and my skin is stretching alot so I think thats pretty good going. I think if I hadn't moisturised that the stretch marks would be so bad.

The oil rubs in really quickly and leaves your skin feeling so soft. My skin is left feeling nourished and hydrated, it is oily when you apply but dries into the skin right away.

I'm really happy with the Mama Bee range and have also been using the Foot and Leg cream which is lovely, it cools your legs and feet right now and smells very minty which is gorgeous. I have a few products from their baby range so once bubba is here I will give them a go and let you know how we get on.

BEAUTY: NEW SUMMER SKIN PRODUCTS FROM HELLO SKIN

USE 'HELLOAMY' FOR 10% OFF YOUR ENTIRE ORDER

Today i'm sharing a few new products i've been using over the last couple of weeks ready for the summer! My skin like many others can change and be temperamental when the weather changes. My skin tends to go very dry and I have alot of breakouts! Since finding out that i'm pregnant my skin has been even worse, really really dry.

First up i've been loving this Avene Thermal Spring Water*! For the last few days we've been having a heat wave and it's been HOT! This spray is a lovely spritz of water which i've been spraying all over my face and body to cool me down and feel refreshed. It's really calming and perfect for those with sensitive skin. It's been amazing at cooling me down and it leaves my skin feeling great.

La Roche Posay is one of my favourite brands so I picked out the Lipikar Baume AP+* which is a balm that is perfect for really dry skin. It re-hydrates the skin and again is perfect for sensitive skin and is even suitable for babies and children.

I've also been loving the Bioderma Atoderm Gel Douche* which is a shower gel for dry skin. It's a gentle foaming cleanser which again is suitable for the most sensitive skin. It has a really light fragrance which has made it perfect for during my pregnancy. It's really gentle and leaves the skin feeling soft and clean, very refreshed.

BEAUTY: SUMMER BEAUTY WISHLIST

Summer is approaching fast so I thought i'd put together a wishlist of some beauty bits that i'd love to add to my collection this season. I love to change up my beauty collection and try some new products. Summer is the perfect time to make some changes to your collection, get rid of those Autumn/ Winter eyeshadows, restock your fake tan collection and get a bunch of new make up brushes to apply it all with. First up I've added a few make up brushes to my wishlist, I have quite a big collection of make up brushes I like to wash mine and keep them fresh and new, I think some could do with replacing so I may have to place a cheeky order from Spectrum.

Next up is the Facial Cleansing Brush from Panasonic. The warming make-up removal plate heats up to break down make up from the skin for gentle removal, the soft brush then optimizes cleaning using ultra-fine bristles that clean impurities not accessible by hand. And finally using the pore focus attachment you can gently target your t-zone. It sounds like such an amazing product, I love the idea of the pore focus attachment to target a more precise area and I think it sounds like a really gentle but effective way to remove make-up and keep your skin cleaner ready for the summer.

I have recently tested Nip+Fab and their new make up range, I was browsing my Local superdrugs selection the other day and spotted this primer water. I've never used a primer water but think it would be a lovely product to use in the summer, not only to prep and prime the skin to apply make up but also to spritz on your face throughout the day to cool it in the warmer months.

I've never really been a huge fake tan fan but I don't think we will be going on holiday this year as we are saving up as we have a baby on the way. I don't think i'm going to last all summer wearing dresses and showing people my baby bump without applying some fake tan to my milk bottle legs and tummy. I think i'm going to have to invest in a decent tan so I don't look so pale all summer. I spotted this Overnight Bronze and Glow mask from Charlotte Tillbury and think this would be a nice product to use. As I don't really wear tan I think this buildable face mask would be a really good place to start.

Finally, I have lots of eyeshadow palettes in my collection but the Sweet Peach palette from Two Faced just screams summer to me. I really like the selection of pinks, peaches and neutral shades and think it would make a really lovely addition to my collection.

BEAUTY: SKINCARE Q&A

In a world of fad crazes and celebrity trends, it’s difficult to know what to believe when it comes to skincare. To sort the facts from the myths, we’ve spoken to Dermalogica retailer Pure Beauty’s resident skin therapist — read on to learn what we should and shouldn’t be doing!

1.      Which skincare ingredients should I avoid?
The main ingredients to avoid include alcohol, mineral oil, lanolin and of course artificial colours and fragrances. While they may be included in ‘hydrating’ moisturisers, they are abrasive and can actually dry your skin out.

2.      How often should I wash my face?
Cleansing your face both morning and evening is one of the key steps in any skincare regime. Use gentle products and don’t scrub, as doing so can damage the surface of your skin.

3.      How often should I exfoliate my face?
The frequency of exfoliation depends very much upon your skin type and the nature of the exfoliant you are using. Daily exfoliants can be used daily – but only once within a 24 hour period.
Other exfoliants can be used up to three times a week. Exfoliate either in the morning or in the evening after cleansing and before applying your toner.

4.      How can I prevent acne?
Acne has many causes and only some of which are directly related to your skin. In general, regular cleansing and exfoliation using products targeted to your skin type will help prevent the build-up of sebum and dead skin cells, which form plugs that can block your pores and create the perfect environment for bacterial growth.

5.      Should I squeeze spots?
As a general rule, you should never squeeze pustular spots as it can worsen bacterial infection and can cause the scarring often associated with severe bouts of acne.
Blackheads can be removed through extraction but your hands must be very clean and you should wrap your fingers in clean tissue paper as a shield, which will then collect the residue.

6.      What moisturiser should I use?
You should always use a moisturiser specific to your skin type. There is not a one-size-fits-all moisturiser and this is where many people go wrong. Oil control moisturisers are specifically designed for very oily skin. Active moist and skin smoothing creams are suitable for a combination of skin types and there are more specific moisturisers for dry or prematurely aging skin.

7.      How do I get rid of bags under my eyes?
It is very difficult to get rid of bags under your eyes due to their delicate nature and the fact that it can simply be a hereditary trait. Plenty of sleep is the best thing, but you must also avoid using your moisturiser on the delicate area beneath your eye. The ingredients in most moisturisers are too strong and it can be a contributing factor.

8.      What causes dry skin?
The main cause of dry skin is your genetic makeup but age and environmental factors play a large part. It is also important to differentiate between dry skin (lack of natural sebum) or dehydrated skin (lack of water) in the skin. A moisturiser is used for dry skin, while a toner is more suited for dehydrated skin.

9.      How do I get rid of dry skin?
Dry skin can be aggravated by cold weather conditions outside and the drying central heating in our workplaces and homes. A well-designed and maintained skincare regime using products specifically recommended for use will help you combat dry skin.

10.  How do I get rid of oily skin?
Using products designed for oily skin will help you combat this skin issue. There are many products on the market that are deigned to absorb excess sebum in the skin, while regularly using masks designed for oily skin will be beneficial.

With spring on the way it's time to refresh your skincare. I thought i'd put together a Luxury skincare wishlist and share a few bits and pieces that i'd love to add to my skincare regime.

I have put together a selection of different products and brands and will share what they do and why I would love to have them in my collection.

Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence is an oil free moisturiser. Full of natural hyaluronic acid and retains moisture to keep even dry skin feeling soft and nourished. The Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil is a daily use treatment oil that solves dryness and dehydration and leaves skin looking healthy and luminous.
I thought i'd include a lip balm, I always hear rave reviews about the By Terry Baume De Rose!
Sunday Riley, Luna Sleeping Night Oil, is another product that i've seen thoughout the blogger world. I'm currently using the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Oil concentrate before bed but would love to give this a try.
I really need to try the Pixi Double Cleanse, i'm not a huge fan of the Pixi Glow Tonic but I think a Solid Oil and gentle cream formula sound right up my street! These Anne Semonin Express Radiance Ice Cubes sound so intriguing, to be used fresh from the freezer the cold temperature calms, de-puffs, tightens, lifts and brightens the eye area.
Blue Moon Cleansing Balm by Sunday Riley is another product that i've seen raved by beauty bloggers and I would love to try it. I am a fan of Cleansing Balms so when my current one runs out I may purchase this. The Omorovicza Ultramoor mudmask contains natural acids to detoxify and cleanse the skin to leave your conplexion clear and bright.

This is a luxury skincare wishlist so the products are quite expensive but they are all products that have amazing reviews and are raved about throughout the beauty industry. Do you have any favourite luxury skincare products? Whats your favourite skincare brand?

LIFESTYLE: 2017 IS THE YEAR TO QUIT SMOKING

Quit Smoking Now for Better Looking Skin

The British Skin Foundation suggests that improving one’s skin by stopping smoking should be one major incentive to finally quit. While smoking damages the heart and the lungs, it also has visible effects on the skin. Smoking is a major cause of premature aging and some skin disorders which develop as a person continues to smoke in life.

Stop smoking now and you can enjoy healthier skin. Smoking affects the skin in a number of ways, and women are more susceptible to this than men. For them, it shows up as fine lines around the eyes and the mouth at an age that is younger than normal in non-smoking individuals.

Smokers also exhibit a much slower healing process. Studies have shown they take longer to heal from surgery and they experience a higher rate of infections. Smokers also have decreased wound strength, failures with skin grafts, tissue death and blot clot formations. Smokers also have a greater risk of getting squamous cell carcinoma or SCC, a form of skin cancer.

People who smoke just a few cigarettes a day will face this risk because tobacco has the ability to suppress one’s immune system. This allows cancer cells to evade recognition. Squamous cell carcinoma can be treated if it is found early but it can metastasize to other body parts and become a serious, life-threatening disease.

Smokers also have the risk of getting a skin disorder called psoriasis a condition that causes dry, itchy scaly patches on the skin. Nicotine is believed to have an impact on the immune system and is thought to trigger psoriasis in those who have the tendency for this condition.

Other diseases and conditions found more frequently in smokers than in non-smokers include lupus and hidradenitis suppurativa. Smokers tend to respond less effectively to treatments than the non-smokers do. If that is not enough, smoking can increase the chances of an individual developing genital warts which is thought to also be due to the immunosuppression caused by nicotine.

Quit smoking this New Year and you will feel the health benefits not just within your heart and lungs but also in your skin. Can you quit with the help of e-cigarettes? Quitting using e-cigarettes is easy, as it offers you the ability to wean yourself from the nicotine which has caused your addiction in the first place.

Quitting With E Cigarettes
There has been many articles I have read recently that does advise that electronic cigarettes are now the best way to quit smoking, that is because you are only taking in the nicotine and not the tar. So a good tip would be if you cant quit then do try quitting with e cigarettes.

Both my Mom and my Nan have quit smoking with the help of E Cigarettes. My Nan has smoked forever and would smoke 20+ Cigarettes a day but after having a health scare last year she quit and finds is easy because she has an E Cigarette. I'm so proud of her for quitting and she seems much better and happier.

Life gets in the way of beautiful skin – how to fix it

Nothing is a better indicator of your state of health than beautiful, clear skin. You can get away with less make up, and you appear radiant without the help of a blusher brush. However, at certain times of year, and particularly in the run up to Christmas and a cold January, your skin can suffer from both the excesses of the party season, the drying effects of central heating, and being battered by cold winds.

You don’t have to suffer below-par skin in the winter, however, as there is plenty you can do to fix it. Here are a few tips for making sure your busy life doesn’t mean you don’t have beautiful skin:

Wear sunscreen  even in dull winter weather. Most skin damage – and wrinkles in particular – is from exposure to the sun’s rays. You can’t fix wrinkles, so preventing them is a smarter idea. Look for a formulation that will offer protection against UVA and UVB rays, and go for an SPF of at least 15.

Keep it clean – nearly three quarters of women don’t wash their make-up brushes, even though they pick up enough dirt and bacteria to cause spots and other skin infections on a regular basis. Brushes should be washed at least once a fortnight, in a little mild shampoo and water, and left to air dry. Mobile phone users aren’t exempt; we don’t always touch them with clean hands, and yet we hold them up to our faces multiple times a day – invest in some sanitising wipes.

Get your beauty sleep – if you don’t get enough sleep, your circulation becomes sluggish, which is why you tend to look pale if you get a bad night’s sleep. Your skin also does much of its repair work while you’re asleep, so slather on those night creams and let them go to work overnight. Take your make-up off first too.

Hit the bottle – here’s the good news; in modest quantities, red wine is good for your skin. This is because it contains a powerful antioxidant which actually prevents wrinkles and skin sagging. Better still, especially in party season, chase your glass of red wine with a snack of some mixed nuts – walnuts in particular are rich in omega-3, which helps to prevent spots, and all nuts are rich in the kind of oils which are beneficial to your skin.

Don’t ignore moles and marks – if you have a skin blemish which refuses to disappear, or a mole changes shape or starts bleeding or itching, seek the advice of a specialist as soon as possible. You may even wish to go private, and visit a Chelsea outpatients department where a dermatologist will be able to set your mind at rest or recommend treatment.

It’s easy to neglect your skin when you’re very busy, but lay in short-cuts for busy times, such as cleansing wipes to clean both skin and brushes, and drinking enough water – then all you have to do is enjoy the party!
