FOOD: JAMIE'S ITALIAN BIRMINGHAM REVIEW

Last week we were kindly invited along to Jamie's Italian in Birmingham to check out their new menu. We headed into the Bullring and did a spot of shopping and then headed along to Jamie's to refuel!

I've never eaten at Jamie's Italian before so I was very excited to be invited along to review their menu. We arrived for our reservation and was greeted by a very friendly lady who told us our table was just being wiped down and said we could get some drinks at the bar or just take a seat. A couple of minutes later she was back and sat us down at a lovely table for two in the window with a lovely view of the Bullring and St Martins Church.

We were then greeted by Kiya who was going to be looking after us, she took our drinks order and went through the specials which sounded amazing. We had a choice of menus to look over, the standard menu and a lunchtime super lunch menu. We opted for the normal menu but the Super Lunch menu is very impressive with lots of choice and it's a great value for money.

I ordered a Berry Blast mocktail and Clint went for an Fresh Apple Lemonade, they were both very refreshing and looked impressive.

For starter we went for the Fantastic Fried Gnocchi which sounded amazing from the menu and neither of us had tried this before. We decided to share the starter and it was a nice size, not too much but not a small portion. It was so good! I kind of wish we ordered one each but I didn't want to fill myself up before my main. I would choose this starter again!

For main I went for the Carbonara and added some chicken. This hands down was the best pasta dish I have ever had in my whole entire life! It was so tasty! The portion size was very impressive and there was a good amount of meat and plenty of spaghetti. There was so much flavour, it was delicious. I had to stop myself making 'mmm' noises between each mouthful. It was beautiful and I will probably order it again next time we go because I enjoyed it so so much!
Clint went for the Porkies pizza which was a very impressive size! In Clints own words 'it went down a treat' he really enjoyed it. We shared some chilli fries which were so good! I dipped them in my pasta.

For desert we ordered the brownie, we shared this again as we were so full up from our main. The Brownie was served with Salted Caramel Ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was a little too rich for me but Clint really enjoyed it. It was soo gooey which was lovely and the Salted Caramel Ice cream was really nice.

The restaurant is gorgeous, the layout is good and there is a lovely atmosphere. I had a great time and will be going back to Jamie's in Birmingham again and would recommend it to my friends and family. The food was great and the service was exceptional, every single member of staff that we spoke to was friendly and professional. Kiya was very knowledgeable and an asset to the store, she was really friendly and checked up on us regularly to make sure everything was good! A guy (guessing a manager? ) had checked up on us too and told us our food was on it's way. After our food he came over to see how things were again which was lovely. Overall it was amazing, we had a great time and can't wait to go back. I thought it was going to be really expensive but I think the prices are quite reasonable and they also have an Evening Favourites menu, which is avaliable monday - thursday after 6pm where you can get 3 courses for £18.95 or the super lunch menu is 12- 6pm monday to friday, 2 courses are £10.95 and 3 course £12.95 which is a little more afforable.

** We were invited to review the new menu at Jamie's Italian and our food was complimentary. This review is honest and I have not been paid for this feature. We had such an amazing time at Jamie's that I will be going again.

FOOD: BBQ CHICKEN NACHOS WITH MANOMASA

WHAT YOU NEED:
NACHOS
CHEESE
CHICKEN / QUORN
PEPPERS
SAUCE

So I thought i'd share this quick and easy recipe for these amazing bbq chicken nachos. Obviously you can tweek the recipe to your liking but this is how I like to make nachos for myself.
-Preheat oven 150degrees
- cook your chicken, I like to use Quorn style chicken pieces as they are easy to cook and low fat.  I cooked my quorn pieces in some Jack Daniels bbq sauce. The quorn pieces take about 10 minutes to stir fry so I cooked these in a pan along with some Frozen mixed peppers. Frozen peppers are so handy to have in the freezer perfect for snacks like this.
- spray a tray with fry light or line with greaseproof paper/ foil then pop some tortilla chips onto the tray. Today I used these amazing Manomasa ones,  I went for the Sea Salt and Black pepper flavour. I popped some cheese onto the tortilla chips.
- once your chicken and peppers are done tip them onto the tray onto the chips and then add more cheese.
-pop in the oven for about 5 minutes, until all the cheese is melted.
- Then add on your sauce, I love BBQ sauce with my Nachos

You can buy the Manomasa chips from Ocado here - £1.85*

GET PARTY READY WITH NEW LOOK

I'm working with New Look* this season on this feature to show you my favourite party looks. It's all about getting party ready  and making it stress free with some useful hints and tips. Here's a couple of outfits i've put together myself. The first one is this gorgeous dress, it's such a lovely burgundy strappy bodycon dress. I've picked out some Silver accessories, I love this long chain necklace, as the dress is plain I think this works well. The bracelet is gorgeous! I've picked out this Silver boyfriend style watch aswell. I'm loving chunky heels right now so went for these heels! They have a chunky heel which are embellished so again perfect for that party outfit. This is an outfit i'd wear over the Festive Season! We normally have a party on Boxing day and New Years Eve and this would be perfect.

For the next outfit i've picked out this longer dress, its embellished on the top. I love this dress and again think it would be suitable for so many occasions over Christmas. This is more classy, it would be great if your going out for Christmas Dinner, or again to a party. We've been talking about going out for our Christmas Dinner this year instead of the Traditional Dinner so a dress like this would be perfect. I've teamed it with this amazing clutch bag! Its embellished so its perfect for the party season. I love it so much. It works well with this gold necklace with its chunky flowers, I think this will pull the whole look together along with these gorgeous nude heels which I would wear time and time again, these are so practical and would look fab with just a pair of jeans and chunky jumper if your heading out shopping those boxing day sales.

LIFESTYLE: CURRYS STUDENT COOKBOOK - QUESADILLAS

HERE IS A REALLY REALLY EASY RECIPE FOR MAKING QUESADILLAS.
THEY ARE MY FAVOURITE AND THESE ARE SO EASY AND QUICK TO MAKE.
 YOU WILL NEED:
-CHICKEN ( OR OTHER FILLING)
-ONION (SLICED)
-PEPPERS (SLICED)
-CHEESE ( I FIND RED LEICESTER THE BEST)  (GRATED)
-TORTILLAS

 1. PUT A LITTLE OIL INTO YOUR PAN AND GIVE IT A FEW MINUTES TO HEAT UP. THIS IS ONLY TO STOP THE TORTILLA STICKING SO YOU ONLY NEED A TINY AMOUNT.
2. POP YOUR TORTILLA IN THE PAN AND START ADDING YOUR TOPPINGS, YOU MAY NOT NEED AS MUCH AS I HAVE USED BUT ITS UP TO YOU! TRY NOT TO GET CHEESE ON THE PAN AS THIS WILL BE MESSY.

3.ONCE YOUR TOPPINGS ARE INSIDE FOLD THE TORTILLA IN HALF LIKE SO... LEAVE FOR A FEW MINUTES UNTIL THE BOTTOM IS BROWN/GOLDEN LIKE THE NEXT IMAGE.

4. TURN YOUR TORTILLA OVER AND AGAIN MAKE SURE ITS GOLDEN BROWN ON BOTH SIDES. WHEN IT IS THEN ITS DONE! THEN CUT IN HALF AND YOU CAN EITHER EAT AS A SNACK OR MAYBE HAVE SOME SALAD OR FRIES TO GO WITH IT ( I PREFER CURLY FRIES AS THEY ARE FUN )

AS I SAID THIS IS SUCH AN EASY QUICK RECIPE, I'VE USED PRECOOKED CHICKEN TO MAKE IT QUICKER AND EASIER BUT YOU CAN USE ANYTHING FROM SANDWHICH MEAT TO FROZEN CHICKEN WITH BREADCRUMBS, ITS UP TO YOU!

CURRYS WILL BE RELEASING A STUDENT COOKBOOK ON TECHTALK IN SEPTEMBER WHEN EVERYONE GOES BACK OR STARTS UNIVERSITY, THE IDEA IS THAT THE COOKBOOK WILL BE FULL OF QUICK AND EASY RECIPES IDEAL FOR STUDENTS

TGI FRIDAYS NEW HANDCRAFTED BURGERS

I was very intrigued to know more last week when I received a tweet from TGI FRIDAYS asking if I wanted to hear a secret. Of course I jumped at the chance to know more and I had to share a secret of mine with them so they knew I was trust-worthy. They then shared their brand new handcrafted burger range , they were available from Wednesday 2nd April so you can try them out now. But this wasn't the only thing TGI's wanted to share with me...

They sent me a very secretive letter stating if I went along to TGI Fridays and said the secret words, 'I'll have what Jacks having' I would get the Secret Burger. It was very excitingg!

So I headed on down to TGI's on Sunday to try out the secret burger. I went with my boyfriend as he loves a good burger. We ordered and was very excited as we had no idea of what we had ordered.

The Burgers came !! And we were impressed, It was huge! A glazed brioche bun, a 7oz beef burger and all the trimmings. There was a bbq flavour to the burger and there was jalapenos. It had a texture that reminded me of chilli beef and extra cheese. It was actually amazing, it was something I would never ever order myself. I'm normally a chicken person when I eat out but I was so happy I gave this ago because it was gorgeous and I would definatly order it again.

The burgers was served with fries and my favourite Jack Daniels Glaze mmmm!!

After we treated ourselves to a Oreo Cookie Sundae and that finished it all off beautifully!!

I'd like to thank TGI FRIDAYS for choosing me to try out their secret burger !

*I was given vouchers from TGI FRIDAYS to try their new burger range but all my opinions above are true.
