PREGNANCY UPDATE: THE FIRST TRIMESTER

So today I thought i'd share my First Trimester update with you, I recently announced my pregnancy and I found these kinds of posts and videos really helpful so I hope this will help somebody else. It's also nice to have it on my blog to look back at myself if I ever have another baby so I can compare my symptoms etc. If you didn't know I was pregnant you can check out my announcement here
where I go into how we found out we was pregnant etc.

Before I even had a positive test result I felt weird and knew something was different, i'd had a few twinges that were kind of like period pain but felt different, this is why i'd wanted to do another pregnancy test and it came back positive.

I've had lots of symptoms of pregnancy over the last few months and I wanted to go through them with you incase your pregnant and experiencing some of these symptoms or if you just like these kinds of posts. I will also go over other things that are pregnancy related from the first trimester in this post.

Symptoms:

Literally in the first couple of weeks of me finding out I started to have stomach pains, they were only during the night really but they hurt and were very uncomfortable. I'd spoke to my midwife who said it was pretty normal and googled it to find alot of different reasons why I was having this pain from ectopic pregancy to implantation pain. I had also been taking my Folic Acid with my dinner so switched this up and now take in the morning which I think helped. The stomach pains went away about 2 weeks into my pregnancy and haven't had this since.

Needed to pee more! This was also one of the first things I noticed, i'd actually noticed this before I found out I was pregnant. I'd gone the cinema with my friend and must have gone 3 times! I was going a lot more throughout the day and night. I would get up about 3-4 times in the night.

Sore Boobs - another symptom I had before I found out I was pregnant, I thought it might have been due to my period but I hadn't really noticed this before. My boobs were pretty sore all the way through the first trimester.

Poor Sleep - Due to needing to use the toilet more and my stomach pains I slept SO BAD during the first 4 weeks or so, I was really uncomfortable and just struggled to get to sleep and stay asleep. I have been sleep much better now and only get up 1-2 times for the toilet and feel more comfortable. I sometimes get shoulder ache from lying on my side or my tummy hurts from needing a wee and I have to move around to get comfy again. I have also started waking up so much earlier since finding out I was pregnant, I used to sleep till 9-10 on my days off and now I get up around 7ish.

Tiredness- The tiredness is real! This has been one of the hardest symptoms for me, at first I thought it was just due to the lack of sleep but even when I was sleeping better I would be knackered. I find that resting/ having a nap helps. I'm not really a nap person but i've had a few naps through the first trimester. I tend to come home from work and get into comfy clothes and just chill, Clints been amazing cooking and cleaning.

Sickness - I did suffer with morning sickness but it was no where near as bad as I expected. Everyones different so some people have awful sickness but for me i was sick about 6 times throughout the first trimester and felt sick alot of the time but it was like a car sick feeling. It was managable, I found i'd feel sick in the morning before I had breakfast and would be sick after i'd eaten and then feel fine for the rest of the day.

Headaches - I've had a few really bad headaches, mostly in the last few weeks so not sure if this would count as a first and second trimester symptom. I've had a banging head and it's been horrible. I didn't want to take any medication thoughout my pregnancy especially not in the first 12 weeks so bought myself one of those 4Head things that you rub on your head and it did help slightly. I had stayed in bed a couple of days because the headaches were so bad.

Constipation- This has been one of the worst symptoms! I've struggled going the toilet throughout the first trimester. I haven't been eating great so I know i'm not getting enough fibre in my diet. It hasn't been as bad over the last few weeks though.

I've had a few aches and pains and niggles in my tummy but I think they are all the symptoms i've had so far. I think i've had a hard first trimester. It's been tough and I don't want to sugarcoat it because it's been hard and I have no idea how people can go months without realising they are pregnant because I don't know how but this tiny little bean inside me has turned my life upside down over the last couple of months, its been hard!!

I'm looking forward to the second trimester and hopefully feeling abit more human, the last two weeks haven't been as bad, i've started to feel a little bit normal which is good.

We've had two ultrasound scans you can see them above. After seeing out midwife very early on in the pregnancy she had worked out we were about 7 weeks so we had our scan date come through very quickly and went for our 12 week scan. At our 12 week scan we were told we wasn't as far along as we'd thought as the baby was measuring at 9 weeks and 5 days so we were told we would need to come back in a few weeks to measure the baby again and the baby was too small for the NT Testing so would need to go back for that. We went along on friday 5th may and at this point we should have been 13 weeks and 6 days and we were still measuring the same and the baby looks so much bigger, we have had the NT testing done so should recieve the results back in the next couple of weeks but everythings looking good.

This has been a very long post so i'm going to stop here. Hope you like this update and want to hear more about my pregnancy so far. I'd love to hear about your pregnancy experiences so send me links to your posts below.

My email is amypyt@hotmail.co.uk if any pregnancy / baby brands want to collaborate.

BEAUTY: SUMMER BEAUTY WISHLIST

Summer is approaching fast so I thought i'd put together a wishlist of some beauty bits that i'd love to add to my collection this season. I love to change up my beauty collection and try some new products. Summer is the perfect time to make some changes to your collection, get rid of those Autumn/ Winter eyeshadows, restock your fake tan collection and get a bunch of new make up brushes to apply it all with. First up I've added a few make up brushes to my wishlist, I have quite a big collection of make up brushes I like to wash mine and keep them fresh and new, I think some could do with replacing so I may have to place a cheeky order from Spectrum.

Next up is the Facial Cleansing Brush from Panasonic. The warming make-up removal plate heats up to break down make up from the skin for gentle removal, the soft brush then optimizes cleaning using ultra-fine bristles that clean impurities not accessible by hand. And finally using the pore focus attachment you can gently target your t-zone. It sounds like such an amazing product, I love the idea of the pore focus attachment to target a more precise area and I think it sounds like a really gentle but effective way to remove make-up and keep your skin cleaner ready for the summer.

I have recently tested Nip+Fab and their new make up range, I was browsing my Local superdrugs selection the other day and spotted this primer water. I've never used a primer water but think it would be a lovely product to use in the summer, not only to prep and prime the skin to apply make up but also to spritz on your face throughout the day to cool it in the warmer months.

I've never really been a huge fake tan fan but I don't think we will be going on holiday this year as we are saving up as we have a baby on the way. I don't think i'm going to last all summer wearing dresses and showing people my baby bump without applying some fake tan to my milk bottle legs and tummy. I think i'm going to have to invest in a decent tan so I don't look so pale all summer. I spotted this Overnight Bronze and Glow mask from Charlotte Tillbury and think this would be a nice product to use. As I don't really wear tan I think this buildable face mask would be a really good place to start.

Finally, I have lots of eyeshadow palettes in my collection but the Sweet Peach palette from Two Faced just screams summer to me. I really like the selection of pinks, peaches and neutral shades and think it would make a really lovely addition to my collection.

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!! **GIVEAWAY CLOSED**

If you follow me on instagram, twitter or facebook you may have spotted our announcement yesterday WE ARE  HAVING A BABY!

We are 14 weeks and 2 days today and it's been so long! I am going to do a first trimester update and I will go through all of my symptoms and how i've found the first 14 weeks.  Today I thought i'd just share our announcement and I also have tickets to the baby show to give away so you can read how to win those below!!

We have been trying for a baby so are really excited and happy about our news! I stopped taking the contraceptive pill back in September and just kind of decided to stop preventing pregnancy rather than actually trying to get pregnant, I was using the Ovia fertility app on my phone but this was more to track my cycle. In February I was late on my period (i'm never late) and I felt different, I was going to the toilet more so we picked up a few pregnancy tests. We did two pregnancy tests on the week that I was late and they were both negative so I thought it may just be down to stress that I hadn't started my period yet. About a week later I still felt a bit weird and said to Clint that I wanted to do another test and it had the faintest positive reading. So i did another test and this also had a really faint positive so I phoned my mom who was super excited and she basically said even if it's a faint line it still means i'm pregnant, she said she would bring me another test home from the doctors where she works. So Clint and myself just spent the day being excited but nervous as we wasn't sure if we were pregnant or not. We went round to my moms when she finished work and did the other test and this was even fainter than the two we'd done already so I was so scared that I wasn't pregnant, we had been doing the tests that show up a line so decided to go to Tesco and pick up a Clear Blue test that would say 'Pregnant' or 'Not Pregnant' so we took this back to my parents house and waited the 5 long minutes and up popped Pregnant 1-2 weeks!
It was crazy and for anyone getting a faint positive result just go and get a clear blue it's a lot less stress haha.

As I said i'm going to do some pregnancy updates on my blog and I really want to start doing outfit posts again, i've been abit paranoid incase anyone asked if I was pregnant. I'm already showing and have a nice little bump.

Thanks to everyone for all the lovely comments and likes over on instagram, twitter and facebook yesterday, my phone was going mental all day! I'm glad I can talk about it now!

BEAUTY: NIP + FAB HIGHLIGHTING PALETTE STROBOSCOPIC REVIEW

Last month I was sent loads of goodies from Nip + Fab, you can see what I was sent here! I have been loving the range and i've been testing bits so I can review them on my blog.

Today I'm going to review the Highlighting Palette which i've pretty much used every single day for the last month or so. The palette contains 3 bronzer shades and 3 highlighting shades. They are gorgeous shades, My favourites have to be champagne (the middle top) and Rose Gold ( the middle bottom) they are just gorgeous!!

The pigmentation is amazing! You only need a little bit and it goes a long way. They are really easy to apply, I use a normal powder brush to apply the bronzer and it's easy to build up depending on what look you want to go for. I really like the middle shade which is Rose gold but you have a lighter and a darker shade again depending on how sunkissed you want to look. The bronzers all have a slight shimmers/ strobe to them which makes you look super healthy and bronzed.

The highlighters are gorgeous, before I got this palette I was using Becca Champagne Pop and I have been reaching for this palette everyday and my sister comments on my highlighter every time I see her. The champagne colour is gorgeous! Theres a white/ lighter shade and also a more golder shade.

They last all day and as I said are easy to apply and build up, amazing pigmentation and colour payoff. So impressed and such a bargain for £15! Avaliable from Superdrug.

REVIEW: GO APE CANNOCK

A few weeks ago I was invited along to Go Ape in Cannock, I've wanted to go to Go Ape for so long so I was super excited to go along!  I went along with Clint, My mom and My moms friend.

We arrived at Cannock chase and parked the car, i've never been to Cannock chase before, it's a big massive park / woods with loads of space for picnics, bike trails, walking so we will be going there again in the summer. We headed over to the Go Ape hut and got signed in.

We were then taken through a safety demo and the staff got us into our harnesses and ready for the day. We had to each demonstrate what we had been taught on a small course and got to have a practice using the equipment.

Once the team were happy we were left to our own devices to make our way through the courses, the team were never far away and were on hand if we needed any assistance at all.

We made our way through the course which is up in the trees, it's high but not too high and you
feel really safe with your harness on and you are always attached to something. We had to climb up ladders, make our way across tiny walkways, around trees, swing from tree to tree and to get down to come down a zip wire which is really fun, they also have Tarzan swings where you swing into a net which is also really good.

If your not a fan of heights but not petrified or not too sure if you could handle it they do have a junior course which is smaller but Clint is quite scared of heights and did it without any fuss at all. I would say it's worth giving it ago if your unsure because you are adrenaline fueled and its just so much fun.

I wasn't too sure what to expect but we had such a good day, all the staff (especially Phil at Cannock) were amazing, we had an amazing experience and would love to do it again!

BEAUTY: UMBERTO GIANNINI GLAM CHEAT VOLUMISING DRY SHAMPOO

Umberto Giannini Glam Cheat Volumising Dry Shampoo - £6* - Boots

I've only really ever used the Batiste dry shampoo so when I was sent this dry shampoo from Umberto Giannini I will admit it sat in a drawer for a long time. I tend to stock up on dry shampoo so I don't run out but I started to feel the Batiste dry shampoo was irritating my scalp so I stopped using it for a while. I found this is my drawer so decided to give it ago and thought i'd share my thoughts.

First of all the packaging is gorgeous, I love the Black and Gold! It's easy to use and creates volume and stops your hair from looking greasy. I think it's a really good dry shampoo. You don't need to use loads as a little goes along way, I tend to use just at the roots. I spray onto the hair and then use my hands to brush it out. You don't get any white residue like other dry shampoos which is amazing and it also smells really good which for me is just an added bonus.

I think £6 is quite alot for a 200ml bottle of dry shampoo but it lasts ages and it is a more luxurious product. I would buy this in the future and recommend it to people who are looking for a good dry shampoo. Boots also have this on offer right now so you can stock up on Umberto Giannini products as they are on 3 for £15.

REVIEW: RIMMEL VOLUME SHAKE MASCARA

If you haven't seen this new release from Rimmel where have you been? I've seen this mascara all over social media and i've even seen adverts on TV for it.

I've been using this for about a month now and thought i'd share my experience with it.

This is the Rimmel Volume Shake mascara and its a very new concept for mascara as inside is a patent-pending shaker which refreshes the volumising formula whenever it's needed. So you shake it to keep it fresh.

It's a clump free mascara and creates volume, and due to the shake technology lasts a really long time, so you won't have to throw it out because it's dried up.

I think the shake technology is a really good idea and I hate it when your mascara dries up and you know theres still loads left. I don't feel that this mascara really gives great volume and I think it's because you need an element of clump/dry mascara to get a really good volume. I like long and thick lashes and this is a much more natural lash. I think the texture is a little too watery for me and I would prefer a little bit of clump/thickness to the lash.

I know everyone is different and alot of people love a more natural less clumpy look when it comes to mascara but this just isn't for me. I will continue to use it as I don't think it's that bad but I wouldn't repurchase this.
